1. The teacher will begin by putting directions on the board that reads as follows: Empezamos: Read the following sentences, and answer the questions below on the sheet provided. You will have 2 minutes to answer. a. The teacher will ask 2 students to explain the directions. (CFU-directions) b. The students will read and write for 2 minutes. 2. The teacher will then pick up items from students desks (with permission) and ask students Is this your notebook? Whose notebook is it? a. The teacher will explain that they have been using possessive adjectives. The teacher will review the standard expression of possession using de and will introduce the Spanish equivalents of the possessive adjectives. (Key Academic Language: [object] de [owner], mi, tu, su, nuestro, vuestro, su), writing them on the SMART Board and encouraging students to write them in their notes. b. The teacher will then give guided practice by crafting example sentences using the possessive adjectives on the SMART Board with the students. 3. Students will then complete a Possessive Adjectives activity with a partner. In this activity, students must line up pieces of paper by matching English text with Spanish, like dominoes. These snippets of text will be possessive adjectives paired with nouns. (CFU-content) a. Students will have 5 minutes to complete this worksheet with a partner. b. The teacher will ask 2 students to explain the directions. (CFUdirections) c. After the time has elapsed, the teacher will review the answers with the class

4. The teacher will explain to students that there is one more way to express ownership even shorter. The teacher will ask students to define a pronoun. The teacher will then illustrate in English the use of a possessive pronoun, and will introduce students to the Spanish possessive pronouns by writing them on the SMART Board and encouraging them to copy them down in their notes. (Key Academic Language: el mo, el tuyo, el suyo, el nuestro, el vuestro, el suyo) a. The teacher will indicate that the possessive pronouns must change to match the number/gender of the noun being replaced, and demonstrate this by writing an example in a sentence on the SMART Board. b. The teacher will then give guided practice by crafting sentences on the SMART Board with students. 5. The students will then complete the Possessive Pronouns in which they will be given a sentence in English indicating ownership of an object, and must then fill in the blank in a Spanish sentence answering a question about the ownership of that object. (CFU-Content) a. Students will have 3 minutes to complete this worksheet with a partner. b. The teacher will ask 2 students to explain the directions. (CFUdirections) c. After the time has elapsed, the teacher will review the answers with the class. 6. The teacher will distribute the Permiso de Salir exit slips and explain the directions to students. a.
