Scheid English 125 November 28, 2013 Packs Giving No Truth Smoking has always been poisonous and has no traits which one can look up to. The only thing you can get out of a cigarette is not love. The absolute truth has always been there for the finding. People are dying every day because of this legal, but wicked drug. It used to only contain only few chemicals. These substances were indeed only limited. If people back then were oblivious to the toxics compounds from smoking, then why are so many people deceived willingly today? Today cigarette packs give the general warning label on the side of the pack itself. However, it should be but in the very front. Graphic labels should be put on every pack of cigarettes. It is revealed that although smoking was never put out there as an absolute killer, people today seem to not care entirely about the hazards. The only way to know what poison actually means you have to look at the facts. Smoking can indeed kill you. It has been proven that it entirely gives you, and anyone using it undeniable end factors. People get cancer from such evil. Doctors back in the 1800s actually prescribed smoking to cure diseases. Commonly it was not known that smoking was. They took smoking to be a leisure activity and that of pleasure. The truth is that even today the same common hazards are not been taken with consideration. The only way to know if what they are doing, smoking, is bad is by seeing people die in front of them. Oh, how they do not see the troubles that await

Rizo 2 them? People have to see people die, and drop on the floor in front of them in order for them to reflect and acknowledge their bad habits of smoking. At first only nicotine and tar from smoking was to be feared. Back then also, men where the only ones smoking too. As time went by numbers of smokers greatly increased. In the early 1900s 2.5 billion packs of cigarettes were sold, but by the 1940s cigarettes where increased in sales to 35 billion by the following years. This is when the industry began to be more aggressive. Four thousand chemicals were added, all toxic. Two hundred of those were poisons. The truth is that one single drop of nicotine can kill one person. Each cigarette contains at least 20 mg of nicotine. The tobacco companies go as far as adding a little more each year to get people hooked. I believe that they doing this on purpose. Their wallets are getting fat while people perish. The tobacco companies have always been up to no good. Targeting women by the 1940s and 1950s it did not stop. Soon they started to target even younger folks. Creating slogans like enter the new generation Or A new generation is born. This slogan create an appetite for the evil passion of smoking. The thing is all this does is get them to try it, and like crack they get addicted to snakes venom. Studies have showed that addiction is not voluntary but this addiction is powered subconsciously. When one begins to smoke their lungs endings become irritated and cough is inevitable. This is natural, for your body is telling the smoker that what they are inhaling something that does not belong in their body. But as the smoker continues to smoke, his nerve ending in his or her lungs become numb, making the smoke you inhale pass through like V.I.P. It does not stop there. After you begin to be a regular smoker your mind starts to want the same feeling it felt before, wanting to inhale and breathe out poison. The chemicals create bouncing and shooting neurons because the smoke inhale causes you to get antsy. And because your mind has a defense

Rizo 3 mechanism it shoots out endorphins. This endorphins help relax your mind and that is why you get high of smoking cigarettes. The tobacco industries all know that snakes hang from their skyscrapers. Every year about 400,000 people die from Cigarette smoking and inhaling. Even second hand smokers get caught up in the path of this insidious poisonous smoke. The statistics show that for every smoker there are 200 bystanders inhaling their smoke. Statistics also show that every eight seconds a person dies. One of those four have never smoke before in their lives. In 1994 a hearing was heard to whether nicotine in tobacco was addictive. To the publics surprise all the companies said no. now in 1988 the U.S. Surgeon general had proven that it was indeed addictive and deadly to smoke cigarette which contains nicotine. For many years the tobacco companies have refused to give up, but many organizations have united even to the putting of graphic warning labels on each of their branded packs. These labels clearly portray pictures of horrendous diseases that were lead back to the smoking of cigarettes. The U.S. has tried to make these dreams happen to the success of keeping cigarettes from the general public. They believed that cigarette smoke is the most preventable death in the whole country. Efforts to stop this legal selling has caused people to retaliate. From passing laws to increasing the legal age of 18 to 21. Prohibiting smokers to smoke 20 feet away from any public facility. They also have tried to increase the taxes and therefore the price in cigarettes in one of the most notorious cities of the country, New York City, has skyrocketed. While in other places a pack could cost you a little over six dollars there in New York the price is double. This course of action this folks there, held not only by the politicians, but by people, are the most aggressive. Seeing their loved ones drop dead to numerous knows diseases motivates them to pursue a more active movement. This movement they hope will wake up the

Rizo 4 people starting with their beloved city. Studies show that while this is all happening the tobacco industries have and continue to move to new targets. Now their next target becomes the developing countries like Indonesia, India, and Africa. These are only a few of the targeted cities that this money hungry tobacco industries are hoping to conquer. Very subtlety they start to sneak on to these countries remaking and producing large number of advertising exposes. Promoting music artists to target the young and putting up billboards with antagonizing commercials. It is estimated that 1,200 Americans die every day from the effects of smoking. Every 5 minutes 13,500 people die worldwide. In China nearly 200,000 people smoke cigarettes. In India one out three young teenagers smoke. That is more kids than Americans have kids. Antismoke organizations still continue to dis allow the sell and consumption of this rated dangerous cancer sticks. The tobacco industries are only trying to hide a smelly fish. This fish cant be hidden very good for it will start to stink, stink like cigarette smell. These same industries are promoting legal plant, and exposing it as a PG rated film or TV show. As people continue to fight, the truth will not stay hidden, but be brought into great light. Cigarette smoking can harm almost every part of your body and cause major damage and changes to your brain patterns. First, when you take a puff of smoke your brain receives a dose of dopamine that gives you that sense of happiness that only a drug can give you. Furthermore, it give your mind anxiety and this can decrease your ability to sleep well. Every time you smoke you are forced to be energized and alert, but soon after this effect you become very sad and frustrated causing you to want more because of the chemicals infuse in that cigarette you are smoking. Later as you continue to smoke more and more your brain begins to be more and more susceptible to strokes due to blood clots. Second, your eyes while smoking and smoking over

Rizo 5 time can receive great harmful attacks, and because they are fragile, and over a course of time the casual smoker will start to develop cataracts which debilitates your sight. Then the smoker will begin to rub his eyes more and more. Also more blinking can occur and your eyes will water and sting. Some extremes will be complete blindness. Third, a smoker can have problems with his mouth. Loss of taste in foods will occur. The person can also begin to have gum disease, develop leukoplakia and ended up with cancer in his or her lips. Bad breath will be also the results of smoking. Their teeth will begin to rot, decay, develop gingivitis and discoloration will also happen. Further down, the throat can also become damaged. The victim of smoking can develop Graves disease, thyroid disease, throat cancer, and cancer of the esophagus too. Next, the persons skin will start to advance and age, and as a result wrinkles will sprout out. Still more, the persons limb will start to accumulate tar and osteoporosis, peripheral vascular disease will start to show up. The end result will be amputation of severed limbs. The lungs are the most affected as they are the direct contacted of the poignant smoke. During a day lungs will fill up with this toxic smoke the smoker inhales. The mucus barrier around the lungs, throat, and nose helps this toxic poisons stay away, but after a while they stop working because the smoke paralyzes them, making them useless. Every time a smoker stops smoking the lungs recuperate and begin to function regularly. The continuing of smoking gives the smoker a greater change for lung cancer and other known respiratory diseases such as emphysema. Next, the heart is one of the most targeted organs the smoker puts danger as it brings life to the whole body. Without the heart the body cannot function. Smoke can cause arteries to harden, increasing blood pressure. The end factors are: Coronary heart disease, a heart attack and atherosclerosis. Also, the liver, bladder, and kidneys, as well as fertility organs in men and

Rizo 6 woman can be affected. All of these mention, due to smoking puts them in risk of cancer, or make them likely to function improperly. Cigarettes have been proven to have major harmful chemicals that have made the whole world give a second opinion about them, but the war is not over until they are completely made illegal. Calculating the deaths that this weapons of mass destruction ensue are exponential. The fact that they have been trying to get rid of them since they finally found out their harms cannot be denied. The only thing we can do, is to continue to put ourselves out there. In this writing we have found out the horrible facts about smoking; facts that most teenagers and some adults already know, but there is too little being done about the awful evidences. Getting at least a million people to quit a year can help profoundly. These people, talking with no offense need to understand that they are not only hurting themselves, but also their loved ones. If graphic pictures like those impose on us in the TV can change the way a people can feel think and do, but these can also shape and help people remember their common flaws. By allowing graphic images of victims to be put in this vicious underground weasels tobacco companys cigarettes packs we can develop true healing of the nation. The only way to stop these undeniable illicit companies is by playing fire with fire. Then only can we have true freedom in this country. As an American I think that people should vote more for laws demoting this corporate scoundrels to the real poor man they really hide inside. The tobacco companies win billions of dollars every years because of their victims, the smokers. They spent millions in advertising so that they gain profits, it is about time we take back our money and put it into greater use. They may try to play devil may cry, but they cannot hide their lies any more. For These companies selling cigarettes is understandably their life and without it they cannot go any further, but they are taking away child hood dreams, their futures,

Rizo 7 and their parents treasured lifespan. The point is that cigarettes kill and they kill right in the open. Hoping only to prosper, we must struggle and move forward into this millennium with new open minds, and then only can we focus on ahead.
