In the autumn of 2005, Genevieve Fortner,

founder and director of Oxford Ballet

School, shared her vision for starting a
Ballet professional ballet company with three
women highly involved in the arts, Sandra
McCarty, Rose Spears, and Lynda Boden-
heimer. These women caught the vision to
begin an association to support a profes-
sional ballet company and to further train-
ing and performing opportunities to the
Oxford

students of Oxford Ballet School II, a pre-

professional program for the serious classi-
cal ballet student interested in pursuing a
career in dance.

The Association was incorporated with the

state of Mississippi in February of 2006 as
Oxford Ballet Association, INC. Less than a Sponsorship
About

year later, the Association applied and re-

ceived the 501 (3)c non-profit status.
