To be fair, ALL Registration is done on a first come, first served basis. Pender Hill strives, as much as possible, to keep tuition prices affordable. Sometimes, however, increases are necessary to provide a quality program. The Board passed the tuition rates for the 2014-2015 School Year at their monthly Board Meeting on November 6, 2013. Tuition helps pay our staff appropriate salaries, professional development, rent, utilities, and the many other things it takes to run a Pre-School. Our program accepts all children without regard to race, color, creed or religion. Upon Registration, a non-refundable Fee of $75.00 is required. If enrolled, September 2014s tuition is due by May 1, 2014. We must receive tuition in order to hold your childs spot. On September 13, 2014, the Supply Fee for the 2014-2015 school year for your childs class is due, as well as May 2015s tuition. Tuition for October 2014 through April 2015 is due on the 10th of each month. New students will need to provide proof of identity and age. This may include a copy of your childs Birth Certificate, Birth Registration, or Passport. New students will also need a current Medical Form and Immunization Form turned in before the start of school. If necessary, returning students will need to provide an updated Immunization Form. Failure to turn in any of the afore mentioned forms may result in the loss of your childs spot in Pender Hill School. Thank you, Sarah Hocker, Director Pender Hill School

The Reasoning And Thoughts Behind Some Of Our Policies

Class Placement: The determination of where a child should be placed in a class is decided primarily by the childs birth date. In order for a child to enter Kindergarten in Fairfax County, the child needs to be five years of age by September 30, of the year the child will enroll in Kindergarten. Spaces available in a class are given on a first come, first served, basis. Sometimes, special circumstances will circumvent this policy. These decisions are made after special consideration by the Director. Class placement requests will be considered, as well as input from the teachers. However, definitive class placement decisions are at the sole discretion of the Director and are final. Parent Co-Op: Through years of observation and experience, we have concluded that having consistent (the same) teachers in the classroom with our youngest and oldest students works best. Those same years of observation and experience have shown us that the 3 Year Old Classes and Young Four Year Old Classes do better with not only the consistency of the same teachers, but with having a helping parent, as well. The extra eyes, ears, and hands in the classroom have proven to be of great benefit to both teachers and children alike. Another reason for having two teachers in each classroom is the strict rule of having two adults in the classroom each day. We now have two paid staff members in each class, each day. We always love to have parents help us out wherever and whenever they can. Working together where and when we can to better the pre-school experience for the childrenthis is what makes us a strong school!
