COURSE DESCRIPTION

COURSE OBJECTIVE

DESIRED RESULT

This mandatory course is a survey on the history of the Philippines, with emphasis on the events and notable persons that shaped and developed the nations society, culture, politics and government leading to the ratication of the 1987 Constitution which currently determines the structure of government and rights granted to individuals. This course aims to present Philippine history from various perspectives in di!erent eras, causing the students to take pride in being a Filipino and having a rich culture. It further intends to encourage students to develop skills, specically critical, analytical and creative thinking, and e!ectively communicating the same through diverse media. At the end of the course, students are expected to:! a. Comprehend how signicant events in history a!ected the establishment of the nation;" b. Understand the fundamental provisions in the 1987 Constitution;" c. Be familiar with the structure of the Philippine government;" d. Develop an active interest and awareness in the current issues and controversies a!ecting the nations present and future;" e. Assimilate patriotic and nationalistic attitude, priding themselves of their nationality;" f. Devote oneself in upholding ethical and moral principles on a daily basis;" g. Actively participate in discussions on various current a!airs;" h. Demonstrate the love for the country in all aspects;" i. Contribute in nation-building through positive actions, such as being and continuing to be law-abiding citizens. " MONTH: November!
