BSN3-1 Autonomous Regin in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) The autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao, abbreviated as the ARMM is the region of the Philippines that is composed of all the Philippines five predominantly Muslim provinces namely: Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and tawi-tawi, and the Philippines only predominantly Muslim city, the Islamic City of Marawi. It is the only region that has its own government. Basilan is an island province of the Philippines located in the autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao. Its capital is Isabela City. And is located just off the southern coast of Zamboanga Peninsula. Basilan is the northernmost among the major islands of the Sulu Archipelago. Basilan is seen as one of the strongholds of the Islamic separatist group, the Abu Sayyaf. This group kidnapped a group of tourists from Palawan and brought them to Basilan, including an American Christian missionary couple. Municipalities of basilan are Lamitan, Lantawan, Maluso, Sumisip, Tipo-Tipo, Tuburan. Lanao del Sur is province of the Philippines located in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Its capital is Marawi City and borders Lanao del norte to the north, Bukidnon to the east, and Maguindanao and Cotabato to the south. To the southwerst lies Illana Bay, an arm of the Moro Gulf. Found in the interior of Lanao del Sur is Lanao Lake, The largest lake in Mindanao, where the Maria Cristina Falls, the largest waterfall in the country is located. Municipalities of Lanao del Sur are BacolodKalawi, Balabagan, Balindong, Bayang, Binidayan, Buadiposo-buntong, Bubong, Bumbaran, Butig, Calanogas, Ditsaan-ramain, Ganassi, Kapai, Kapatagan, Lumba-bayabao, Lumbaca-unayan, Lumbatan, Lumbayanague, Madalum, Madamba, Maguing, Malabang, Marantao, Marogong, Masiu, Mulondo, Pagayawan, Piagapo, Poona, Bayabao, Pualas, Saguiaran, Sultan, Dumalondong, Picong, Tagoloan li, Tamparan, Taraka,Tubaran, Tugaya, Wao. Maguindanao is a province of the Philippines located in ARMM. Its capital is Shariff aguak and borders Lanao del Sur to the east, and sultan kudarat to the south. To the west lies the Moro gulf. Municipalities of Maguindanao are ampatuan, barira, Buldon, Buluan, Dati Abdullah Sangki, Datu odin, Datu Paglas, Datu Piang, Datu-saudi ampatuan, Datu Unsay, Guindulungan, Kabuntalan, Mamasapano, Matanong, Pagagawan, Pagalungan, Paglat, Parang, Rajah Buayan. Sulu is an island province of the Philippines located in ARMM. Its capital is Jolo and group of islands of the Sulu-Archipelago, between basilan and Tawi-tawi. It is home to the Royal Sultanate of Sulu. Municipalities of Sulu are Hadji Panglima Tahil, Indanan, Kalingalan Caluan, Lugus, Luuk, Maimbung, Old Panamao, Pandami, Panglima Estino, Parang, Pata, Patikul, Siasi, Talipao, Tapul, Tongkil. Tawi-Tawi is an island province of the Philippines located in ARMM. The capital of tawi-tawi is panglima sugala, and the southernmost in the country. To the northeast lies the province of sulu and to the west is sabah in Malaysia. Tawi-tawi also covers some islands in the sulu sea to the northwest, the Cagayan De Tawi-tawi island and the turtle islands, just 20 kilometers away from sabah. Municipalities of Tawi-tawi are Bongao, Languyan, Mapun, Sapa-Sapa, Simunul, Sitangkai, South ubian, Tandubas, Turtle Islands.
