Spanish Period

The system! ho(ever! degenerated into a#use of po(er #y the en omienderos The tri#ute soon #e ame land rents to a fe( po(erful landlords$ And the natives (ho on e ultivated the lands in freedom (ere transformed into mere share tenants$
