3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3-1. DOCTOR TABLE SECTION
Master Switch

CAUTION
Turn off the master switch after daily operation or in long term interval.

(1) Master Switch (Fig.3-1 & Fig.3-2) Turn on the master switch located on the facing right side under table, the power indicator on the main control panel illuminates in green.

Cupfiller Switch (Fig.3-2) Momentarily press the cupfiller switch ( ), water comes out the cupfiller nozzle for about 2.5 seconds and stops automatically. During cupfiller is working, the indicator illuminates in green. During cupfiller is working, momentarily pressing the cupfiller switch ( ) cancels cupfilling. Note : The cupfiller water volume can be adjusted by the cupfiller flow control knob located in the cuspidor body. Refer to 3-2.(3). B. Bowl Flush Switch (Fig.3-2) Two type of bowl flush modes are available. a. Timer Mode Momentarily press the bowl flush switch ( ), water flushes for about 5 seconds and stops automatically. During flushing water, the indicator illuminates in green. b. Continuous Mode Keep pressing the bowl flush switch( ) for about 3 seconds, the indicator starts blinking and water flushes continuously until the bowl flush switch ( ) is pressed again. Note : During bowl flushing, momentarily pressing the bowl flush switch ( ) cancels bowl flush in any mode. The bowl flush water flow volume can be adjusted by the bowl flush flow control knob located in the cuspidor body. Refer to 3-2.(3) -3-

C. Flush Out Switch (Fig.3-2) Pick up the handpieces from the holder and set them in bowl. Momentarily press the flush out switch ( ), the indicator illuminates in green and water comes out from the handpieces to clean up the handpiece water lines. After flushing about 40 seconds, water stops automatically and the indicator turns out. Note : During flush out is working, momentarily pressing the flush out switch ( flush out immediately. D. Extra Switch (Fig.3-2) The extra switch ( ) can be used for the dental light ON/OFF switch. During the extra switch is ON, the indicator illuminates in green. E. Light Pack Switch (Optional)(Fig.3-2) Pick up the fiber optic handpiece from the holder, momentarily press the light pack switch ( the indicator illuminates in green and the fiber optic power turns on until the light pack switch is pressed again. ) cancels

F. Electric Motor Rotation Direction Control Switch (Optional)(Fig.3-2) During picking up the electric motor from the holder, the electric motor rotation direction ) and the rotation direction is indicated can be changed by momentarily pressing this switch ( in the indicator. Indicator in green : Forward Rotation Indicator in amber : Reverse Rotation G. Electric Motor Maximum Speed Setting Switch (Optional)(Fig.3-2) During picking up the electric motor from the holder, the maximum rotation speed of the electric motor can be set with this switch ( ). The maximum speed can be select 3 steps (High, Medium, Low) and it is indicated in the indicator. High (100% rpm. for electric motor) Medium (50% rpm. for electric motor) Low (25% rpm. for electric motor) * Illuminating L.E.D H. Chair Manual Control Switches (Fig.3-2) a. Seat Lifting -------------------------------- Keep pressing ( ) switch until the seat is lifted up to the desired position. b. Seat Lowering ----------------------------- Keep pressing ( ) switch until the seat is lowered to the desired position. c. Backrest Reclining ------------------------ Keep pressing ( ) switch until the backrest is reclined to the desired position. d. Backrest Raising -------------------------- Keep pressing ( ) switch until the backrest is raised up to the desired position. I. Chair Auto Mode Switches (Fig.3-2) a. Preset Operation Momentarily press the preset-1 switch ( 1 ), the chair moves to the preset 1 position and stops automatically. Preset 2 position operated by the preset switch ( 2 ). Note : Preset position adjustment refers to Progia chair Manual.

b. Auto Return Operation Momentarily press the auto return switch ( 0 ), the chair returns to the initial position (the seat is the lowest and the backrest is the upright position) and stops automatically. c. Last Position Memory Operation Momentarily press the last position memory switch ( LP ) at the treatment position, the backrest raises up to the mouth rinsing position (upright position) and stops automatically. Momentarily press the last position memory switch ( LP ) again, the backrest returns to the previous treatment position and stops automatically. d. Emergency Stop (Safety Stop) During automatic procedure (preset, auto return and last position memory), momentarily pressing any chair control switch will cancel the automatic movement immediately. f. Safety Lock Indicator During the handpiece is running, the safety lock indicator illuminates in red and all chair control switches can not operate.

(3) Doctor Table Section Control Knobs A. Handpiece Spray Water Control Knobs (Fig.3-3) The handpiece spray water control knobs are located on the facing right side under the doctor table. Each handpiece spray water control knob is lined up from the facing left side HP1,HP2,HP3,... The handpiece spray water can be controlled independently. B. Doctor's Syringe Flow Control Knobs (Fig.3-3) Doctor's syringe flow control knobs are located on the facing right side under the doctor table. The flow control knobs adjust doctor's syringe air and water flow volume. The yellow capped knob is the air flow control knob, the blue capped knob is the water flow control knob.

Note : Turning a control knob counterclockwise increases flow volume and turning clockwise decreases. (Fig.3-4) C. Electric Scaler Power Control Knob (Optional)(Fig.3-3) Electric scaler power control knob is located on the facing right side under the doctor table. Turning the knob clockwise increases the electric scaler power, turning counterclockwise decreases. D. Electric Motor Speed Control Knob (Optional, Bien Air PLPE843)(Fig.3-3) Electric motor speed control knob is located on the facing right side under the doctor table. Turning the knob clockwise increases the electric scaler power, turning counterclockwise decreases. Electric motor maximum speed setting switch can be set the electric motor speed controlled by this knob. (Refer to 3-1.(2) G.) -5-

(4) Handpiece Pressure Gauge (Fig.3-5) Handpiece drive air pressure gauge is located on the rear side of the doctor table. During a handpiece is working, the handpiece drive air pressure is indicated in the handpiece pressure gauge.

Fig.3-5 Handpiece Drive Air Pressure Gauge (5) Balance Arm Air Brake (Fig.3-6) Balance arm air brake is located on the handle. When the master switch is ON, the balance arm is locked. Grasp the handle and press the air brake button to adjust the table height. Release the air brake button at the desired table position, the balance arm is locked. Note : When the master switch is off. The arm lock is released. Do not load over 1.5 kg on the table.

3-2. CUSPIDOR UNIT SECTION (1) Assistant Side Control Panel (Fig.3-7) Cupfiller switch, bowl flush switch and chair auto mode switches are located on the assistant side control panel. Refer to 3-1.(2) A,B,I.

Dental Light (IO 5000) Mode Selection Switch (Fig.3-8) Dental light (IO 5000) can be operated (ON/OFF) either by the non-contact switch located on the light head, or by the manual switch. q To operate by the non-contact switch ---- Set the switch lever to Right w To operate by manually -------------------- Set the switch lever Left -ON. Set the switch lever to Centre-OFF. -6-

B. Water Heater Switch (Optional)(Fig.3-8) Water heater switch is located on the cuspidor unit control panel. Turn on the water heater switch, the water heater indicator illuminates in green and cupfiller water will be warmed up. C. Service Water Outlet (Fig.3-8) The service water outlet provides quick-connect water. D. Service Water Outlet Control Knob (Fig.3-8) The water volume of service water outlet can be adjusted by the service water outlet control knob. Turning the knob counterclockwise increases flow volume and turning clockwise decreases. E. Service Air Outlet (Optional)(Fig,3-8) Service air outlet provides quick-connect air.

Lock (3) Cuspidor Unit Body Maintenance A. How to Remove Maintenance Panel (Fig.3-9) panel Assistant's syringe flow control knobs, cupfiller Release flow control knob and bowl flush control knob are located inside the cuspidor body. Remove the maintenance panel for adjustment. Cover Fixing Push the cover fixing buttons (Buttons come out) Button to release and remove the maintenance panel. After adjustment, reset the cuspidor cover and Fig.3-9 Removing Cuspidor Cover push into the fixing buttons to lock the maintenance panel in place.

B. Assistant's Syringe Flow Control Knobs (Fig.3-10) The yellow capped knob is to adjust the assistant's syringe air flow volume, and the blue capped knob is to adjust water flow volume. C. Cupfiller Flow Control Knob (Fig.3-10) Cupfiller flow volume can be controlled by the cupfiller flow control knob. Loosen the lock nut and adjust cupfiller water flow volume by turning the knob. Tighten the lock nut after adjustment. D. Bowl Flush Flow Control Knob (Fig.3-10) Bowl flush flow volume can be controlled by the bowl flush flow control knob. Loosen the lock nut and adjust bowl flush water flow volume by turning the knob. Tighten the lock nut after adjustment. Note : Turning a knob counterclockwise increases flow volume and turning clockwise decreases. -7-

(4) Assistant Instrument Holder Picking up an instrument (Saliva ejector or Vacuum handpiece) from the assistant holder starts the instrument working automatically. Returning the instrument to the holder stops automatically.

3-3. FOOT CONTROL SECTION (1) Standard Type Foot Control (Fig.3-11) A. Drive Air Pedal Pick up a handpiece from the handpiece holder and depress the drive air pedal, the handpiece starts running. Depressing degree controls the handpiece rotation speed. B. Coolant Water Switch Coolant water switch allows handpiece coolant water to be turned on or off. C. Chip Blower Pedal By depressing the chip blower pedal, chip blower comes out from handpiece without bur turning. (2) Safety Lock Device (Fig.3-2) While the handpiece is running, all chair electrical movements are locked inactive for safety. It is indicated on the safety lock indicator on the main control panel.

4. CARE AND MAINTENANCE


CAUTION
Turn OFF the master switch after daily operation or in long term interval. Keep the main water valve OFF after daily operation or in long term interval.

Cleaning Unit

CAUTION

Do not drench the unit for cleaning. Do not use polishing powder, solvents, strong disinfectant or hot water for cleaning. After cleaning, wipe with a dry soft cloth and keep the unit dry. Painted, metal and plastic surfaces can be cleaned with weak ethanol. Membrane switches and all tubings can also be cleaned with weak ethanol.

(1) Cuspidor Bowl (Fig.4-1) Take out the drain cap and the basket strainer in the centre of cuspidor bowl and clean them.

(2) Solid Collector (Fig.4-1) Pull out the solid collector with filter and clean it. After cleaning, set the solid collector firmly.

(3) Vacuum Handpiece and Saliva Ejector (Fig.4-2) A. Unscrew and remove the top parts of each handpiece and clean each strainer. B. After daily operation, run two cups of clean water through the handpieces to clean inside.

Note : After cleaning the handpieces, apply a white vaseline lightly on the rubber parts (O-Ring) and screw parts for long life.

(4) Disinfection A. Vacuum tip, saliva ejector tip and syringe tip are autoclavable. B. All tubings and hoses can be cleaned with weak ethanol.

(5) Air Filter Drain Valve (Fig.4-3) Air filter drain valve is located on the left side of utility section. Once a week open the drain valve and drain off water from the air line.

(6) Main Water Valve (Fig.4-3) Main water valve is located on the left side of utility section. Turn off the main water valve after daily operation or in long term interval.

3-3. FOOT CONTROL SECTION (2) Progia Type Foot Control (Fig.3-12) A. Drive Air Pedal Pick up a handpiece from the handpiece holder and depress the drive air pedal downward, the handpiece starts running. Depressing degree controls the handpiece rotation speed. B. Coolant Water Switch Coolant water switch allows handpiece coolant water to be turned on or off. C. Chip Blower Button By depressing the chip blower button, chip blower comes out from handpiece without bur running. D. Electric Motor Rotation Control (Optional) Pick up the electric motor from the handpiece holder and slide the drive air pedal horizontally to right, the electric motor starts running. The rotation speed increases by sliding the drive air pedal to further right. The speed control by the foot control is within the limits of the electric motor speed setting. Refer to 3-2. (2) G.
