NEWSLETTER #21, February, 1984'

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, & Friends,

We send you greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. My family and I pray that God will keep you & bless you during the entire year which has just begun. You have been very good to us, & the missionary work here in the State of Morelos, Mexico. We thank you & at the same time dedicate ourselves to work and exalt the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

God has blessed us greatly in the past yeeir. Church attendance has increased, the membership has grown, and there has been a number of baptisms. At the end of 1983 on a cold Christmas day, Dec. 25th. four young -people were baptized. On December 2^th, we were
able to gather together in one place the members of all the missions where we now serve. There are 5 missions now* The purpose of the ^thering was to all meet together for a special Christmas program. It was a beautiful day. The young people presented draunas, the adults sang specials, gave testimonies, and ate a delicious evening meal together. The ladies really out did themselves in the preparation of the meal. The members of the local church here in Cuautla provided housing for those who came from out of town, and on the following day, Sunday, after the morning services and the baptismal service they returned
to their homes.

The new year, 198^ has begun in an excellent manner,

for which we thank God who de

serves all the ^ory. On the ei^th of January there were four confessions of faith at the

church at Zacatepec, and ten people from the Non-instrumental Church of Christ placed their membership there. These people had been attending services for some time and we had been working with them before they made their decision official.

At Easter we are planning a weeks revival at the church at Zacatepec. The evangelist will be Agustin Ortega, a professor at Colegio Biblico in Eagle Pass, Texas. We are hold ing a prayer campaign at all the churches asking God to make the revival a success. The

adults are forming teams of two, and the young people of all the missions are getting to gether on Saturdays in tesims of four, to visit in the homes of projects. We already have a list of 49 prospects, and we a^ that you help us by praying for them.
We have received a great blessing in those who were added to the Church recently as mentioned above. They are actually four families in one. They are the parents and their married sons and daughters plus a number of grandchildren. The father df the family is

who have problems getting to the services because of the lack of public transportation. The young people of the 5 missions had their Christian Service Camp in the mountains the last week in December. The place was beautiful with warm sulfur springs and a river where they could fish. The young people had their Bible classes in the mornings and a de

OUR MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

It is a pleasure to tell you what God has done

in the places -where we work.

My family

and I send greetings and our prayers are that all goes well with you. Two new memlDers were added to the church, in Cuautla, the beginning of February. They are Widelbalalo Ramirez and his wife, Graciela, and they come to us from one of our churches
in Mexico City.

Also, in the mon*tti of March, two more were added, to "ttie church, in Cuautla. They come from the Chiirch of God, and they brou^t their families, which are veiy large, and have not
yet been converted.

We have had much sickness, in Cuautla, and some of it has been serious.
Maria del Socorro, who is the wife of one of -Oie members

One example is

is not yet a member. While they were visiting in Mexico City last month, Maria del Socorro, suffer ed a miscarriage. They returned immediately to Cuautla. The dtiurch in Cuautla has a doctor who is a member and does not charge the poor members, of the missions where we serveo The doctor's name is Jose Nelzahualcoyote Deloya Lopez. When a member of the church is in need, whether it is sickness or something else that is a real need, the other members get together

Jaime Reyes Morelos, who

and give whatever is necessary to meet that needo We have N^ied to teach -ttiem not only Christian stewardship, but, also Christian ho^itality, one toVard another. There exists
much Christian love among the brethren. I want to mention here what I failed to mention earlier. Jairre Reyeo Moralex and Maria del Socoirro are both invalids He had infantile paralysis when he was foxir years old. He

is now 28 and since he was four, one of his legs have been completely useless. When Maria del Socorro was two years old, she was dropped and ftactured her iq?inal column. She is now 29 and can only walk with orthopedic braces. They are very poor. I take them to services
in the truck.

In Zacatepec, we also have some sickness. One of the members, Maria ELerra Cayares, has a bad kidney. ELease help us by remembering these people who are sick in your prayers. We've had to enlarge the place where we meet, in Zacatepec, because we just don't fit anymore. We built a temporary building out of cane and grassWe used this type of material

because it is the cheapest, but even then it cost us $^,000.00 pesos,($235.00 dollars), and that's a lot of money for here. We'll use the building until the chtirch building is finished
next October. On ihe property, where we are going to build, the congregation is going to build a water tank and put in a septic tank for the rest rooms. This is going to take all that we have in the church treasury. We also want to put a fence around the property, but we won't be able to do this soon. It is urgent that this be done as soon as possible, be cause when there is no fence, the non-christian is bad about entering the property and taking whatever they find, or throw their garbage on the property.

The members at Zacatepec can't wait \mtil they have their own building. And they are thankful to those of you who have given them this hope, which soon ^ould become a reality. At the beginning of March, we were at Colegio Biblico in Ea^e Pass, Texas, and found

Since there are many rivers, streams and resorts, the people, as soon as they get off work, go to these places to swim. We are having a re

My dau^ter. Carmen, is the teacher of the 5 to 7 year old Sunday School classo On one occasion, she asked her students if they knew the names of the apostles. One boy said yes, that his mother had tau^t them to him,and he began to recite: Andrew, John, James, Genesis
and Apocalypse.

My wife continues to translate EngpLish materials to Spanidi, to use in the Sun.Schools.

Lalo,

Efren continues to get good

grades in school.

We'll have to say,.goodby for this time, hopingc to have good news about the revival, in my next newsletter. We ask you to continue to pray for us, we are having serious economical problems. The inflation in this country has caused the prices to soar. This month, they raised our house rent again, and we continue on the same budgeted amount of $500.00 monthly that we've been receiving for the past two years. We are thankful for this amount and pray that God will somehow provide the additional funds that we so desperately need. My wife, my children and I pray that God will continue to bless each one of you, who have a part in this ministry of preaching Christ in the State of Morelos, Mexico,

The danger in abandoning this flock is mentioned in Acts 20^28-29 NAS, "Be on guard for

In Mexico, the cost of articles and services have gone up 200^ in the last two years. Eduardo's support has continued the same over the same period of time, and he and his fajnily have made many personal sacrifices so money cound be used for gas, tires and repairs for the
truck. For example; Lalo and Efren have a problem with their feet, and they have never had the money to pay for the consultation with an orthopedist or the money for the special shoes they would need to wear all the time. Efren's feet problems are especially bad, plus he has
serious problems with his teeth and the dentist says they need to have them fixed as soon

as possible. Perhaps, there is someone reading this letter that would be able to help pay for this medical care for Eduardo*s children. Or perhaps a Sunday School Class, Ladies Group
or Mission Committee that would take this as a project.

Eduardo*s house rent has been raised $20.00 monthly, electricity has gone up 30^,local

Dear Brethren and T'Tiends in Christ Jesus, The prayers of my wife, my dauqhter. Carmen; my sons, Lalo and Efren; and me,are that this letter finds you well and enjoying CkDd's blessings. We have been cfuite busy with much work at the church in Zacatepee, preparina for the evangelistic campaian, being held durinq Christmas vacation, that we are having with the group coming from Colegio Biblico. There are 3 confessions of faith. For this we praise the Lord. Pix other oeoole show a desire to do the same, and we believe that, through the Lord's helD, there will be more. All these people want to be baptized at our Christmas Fve program on the 24th. At that time, we'll be using our new baptistry for the first time. We are working-on-Christmas plays the young oeopley ^rom the Cuautla church, present

Play together, is completely in the hands of my wife. Our attendance, at Zacatepec, has grown considerably. During the previous months it dropped a little, but new people are caning and some of them are coming from outside our

neighborhood. This past Sunday, we didn't have near enough benches for all to sit, so some had to stand during the service. For all of this we are thankful to our heavenly Father.
We feel that with the Lord's help we'll soon have the new building completely full.

It's likely that soon we'll have families from some denominational groups, that have been
visitinn our services, transfer their membership. They are from the Jesus Only Church and the Universal Church of Christ. They are good people and ready to learn. We are havina
Bible Studies with them.

Last Saturday, we officially began the Young People' meetings in Zacatepec, From the very beginning, thev have taken on the character of a regular activity of the church

program. Thev are between the ages of 16 & 22, and their names are: Trma Jimenez, Alicia Jimenez, Judith Recendiz, isac Recendiz, Eleasau Vaiton, Cregorio Vaiton, Ricardo Rodriguez,
& Juan Calderon.

In the meeting last Saturday, 16 young people were not vet Christians.

The first pro

ject of the young people that are Christins, is to lead these others to Christ. Next Satur-day^ these young r^ope vrill all together, in Zacatepec, at Zacateoec, to v,'crk on the new building, and to do some visiting in the afternoon. That night they v/ill have their
meeting outdoors around a bonfire.

The Cuautla youth, have more experience as Christins, and are very active.

They had a

lot to do with the evanaelistic work at Zacateoec, when the work was started there, and they are the ones, with the help of some aduts, which pretty much take charge of the Sunday activities in Cuautla. They will be teaching the Zacatepec youth how to organize and how to
do evangelistic work. I taught them and now we are seeino the seeds bear fruit one hundred fold, as this new group is taught. The church in Zacatepec, with it's new building, requires more attention and more of our time. The members were not used to having services on Sundav afternoon. ^-Then we start ed them the attendance was very low, but this problem is now being solved. My wife and j now si^end all day Sunday at Zacatepec, not returning home until night.

five months when most of the people are unemployed.

We've had some sickness in the congregation, including our daughter. Carmen. She was sick for about 2 weeks with debngue, a virus infection caused by a mosquito bite. Apparent-J^y^^there is no rsedicine for treatment. Carmen was sick on her birthday, November 5th. Oth

My wife, children and i have alv;ays worked, in the Lord's work, beause of our faith, in order that souls might be saved. We are also convinced the only way we can show our grati tude to the Lord is through the work we do for Him. The same is true in order to show our gratitude to you, my brothers and friends, for your love an interest that you have sha-/n for us and the work here in Morelos, we can only tell you about our work But we can't always
and then later niturn to the v/orld! V7e can sincerely say, however, that for a long time we haven't had this kind of failure. But the road to success in the Lord's work, in this part of the world, is slow. It requires much work, much patience, and much tact. We plead with you not to withdraw your love, nor your interest, nor your patience. You and our family is being used by the Lord, that He might be glorified and many might come to kneel before Him. Once aqain, my dear brethren, our prayer is that the Lord wil bless an keep you.
