1. A part that is to be feed and oriented in a vibratory bowl feeder has five Orientations
(a, b, c, d, and e) on the bowl track. The orientating system consists of three
devices. The first is a wiper blade that rejects all the parts in orientation e; the
second is a step that reorients 20% of those in orientation a to orientation b, 10%
of those in b to orientation c 50% those in c to orientation a, and 80% of those
in d to orientation a. write the matrices for each drive, and thereby calculate the
efficiency of the system if the initial distribution of orientation is as follows:

(a) a=0.20 ;
(b) b=0.25;
(c) c=0.40;
(d) d=0.10;
(e) e=0.05

What would the efficiency of the system have been if no step had been included?

[16]

2. (a) What are the additional functions performed by magazines in assembly system.
[8]
(b) Discuss briefly about rotary-disk feeder. [8]
