Synopsis
Telecommunications in India is witnessing a very rapid growth. Having crossed the 825 million users mark in the year 2011, the country is poised to soon cross the one billion mark. This has led to a rapid increase in the number of telecom towers in the country in the past decade. With the springing up of so many towers, problems like headaches, fatigue and cancer are becoming very common. Other than the health hazards another common hazard is the presence of Shadow Areas. Hence, we at Microqual, in our project are working on setting up Revolutionary Solutions for In

Building Coverage Solution & Implementation of the same. In-Building Solutions mainly deals with setting up a Distributed Antenna System within a building or commercial area so as to provide coverage within the entire area. Other than providing network coverage within the Shadow Area, the antennae are not harmful as they abide by the WHO parameters, hence they are safe.

Goals
The problems associated with network coverage are listed below: Presence of Shadow Areas. Low Coverage. High Capacity. High Call Drops. No Basement Coverage. Interference at High-Rise Buildings.

The solution to these problems is IN-BUILDING SOLUTIONS. It has streamlined the process of providing indoor mobile coverage in high traffic areas such as airports, convention centers, shopping malls and transport stations. These indoor mobile network solutions cost-effectively combine antennae, transmission equipment and radio base stations, and promise high returns on your investment.

Features and Advantages of In-Building Solutions

Commercial Ubiquitous cellular coverage is now a basic expectation in-building 75% of mobile calls are originating or terminating indoors Higher frequency 3G/4G services make in-building coverage more critical

Public Safety In-building coverage taking on greater importance Migration to 700/800 MHz means less signal penetration Portable radios should support first-responders within buildings New ordinances and building codes mandating coverage

Methodology
The following steps are mainly going to be followed for successful completion of the project:1. Site Acquisition- Acquire commercial sites that require network coverage as well as side by side tie up with Service Providers. 2. Site Survey - Initial survey of floor plans, equipment locations, impairments 3. Preliminary Design - RF link budgets, initial antenna and cable layouts, BOMs 4. Statement of Work Project requirements and transaction specifics 5. RF Survey - Perform interference & propagation measurements 6. Detailed Design - Revise preliminary design & BOM based on results 7. Pre-Construction Survey - Installer walk-thru to validate cable routes & equip. locations 8. Final Design - Revised based on changes to installation design if necessary 9. Carrier Approval - Design approval and authorization to connect to networks 10. Order Equipment - Order equipment following carrier approval 11. Installation - Install cables, antennas and active equipment 12. Commissioning - Verify RF & optical cable performance; set system gains; test 13. System Acceptance - Connect operator BTS equipment & measure RF coverage performance. Customer signoff is obtained.

The Gantt chart above in brief explains my TIP schedule for the full 5 months. This is a temporary chart and is subject to change depending on the number and frequency with which sites are acquired and set up by Microqual. The site visit was mainly to Vashi Station where we saw our In-Building Solution setup and learned how to tackle the problem of the antenna not receiving any power, and hence loss of coverage. A few pictures of our site are shown below:-
