DSWCI 50 years in 2006 - the DX Club that had global membership 30 years before "Globalization" www.dswci.org Editor and Distributor: Anker Petersen E-mail address: anker.petersen@mail.dk . November 27, 2013

Next deadline is Monday December 09, 2013 at 1800 UTC. Dear friends,

On November 25, thousands of Thais, demonstrating against the government in Bangkok, occupied several Ministeries and the captial was declared in State of Emergency. This happens at the same time as our Editor-in-Chief Kaj Bredahl Jorgensen and wife Else arrive in Bangkok after a two weeks guided tour around in Myanmar. We wish them a safe stay there the rest of this week. Thank you for your contributions from all parts of the world to this DX-Window. Our regular Spanish contributor Manuel Mndez reports: During 9 and 16 of November my wife and I stayed on holiday in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. We had very nice weather, a lot of sun and temperatures between 25 Celsius at daytime and 19-20 at night. I practiced DX too in the early morning and in the later evening. Lanzarote have very good conditions for Latin American and specially for Brazilian stations, and I have heard a lot of stations from that country, perhaps the majority that are on air now. I brought a Sony ICF SW 7600 G, cable antenna, 6 meters. Thank you for the many loggings. Could this be an inspiration to others! Our U.S. member Richard DAngelo writes: Our first DXpediton to French Creek State Park occurred on November 17-19, 2013. Unseasonably warm weather greeted us and stayed with us throughout generating noisy conditions on the tropical bands which also suffered from a lack of carriers. I have been very busy since it ended with some serious computer problems that still need to be resolved (I am using my wife's MacBook Air). Also, my mother-in-law passed away the day of my return from French Creek so had to travel into New York to meet up with Sue for the funeral. Things are starting to settle down a little, so I took this afternoon to type out my logs from the DXpedition (marked FCDX). May your mother-in-law R.I.P. Highlights this time: Bhutan Broadcasting Service back on 6035. Clandestine List for B-13 period. Echo de lEurope, France, is back on the air. Indian Ocean Relay Station at Seychelles to close. (Kuhl in DXplorer). Is not in the official R Cairo winter schedule (Bueschel) The Radio and Television Union has submitted a proposal to the government to adopt a tax on car owners in Egypt for car radio service, to be paid annually when renewing the license, said the Union head Essam al-Amir. This comes within the anticipated union reform package in response to a government request to rationalize consumption and make the union selfsustainable as it costs the public treasury LE 220 million per month. In order for the union to partially support itself, a plan needs to be implemented that would increase television consumption fees in houses, which currently stands at 2 cents, so that the Egyptian television services can be more rewarding, says al-Amir. New shows would be introduced in the near future, he added. The shows would not cost more money, and would bring back advertisement. He explained that there is a plan to merge the three production sectors owned by the unit, in order to able to produce major shows. (Edited translation from AlMasry Al-Youm. (Beryozkin) International news media are carrying the news regarding the transfer of WYFR, the large shortwave station in lower central Florida, to WRMI Radio Miami International in Miami in the United States, at the end of this month. Due to this remarkable radio development, the international DX program, "Wavescan", will interrupt the flow of its regular programming to honor the occasion. The final broadcasts of "Wavescan" over WRMI Miami will be on the air during the last complete week in the month of November, and during the first complete week in December, "Wavescan" will be aired for the first occasion over the large new WRMI which is located a little north of Lake Okeechobee in lower central Florida. The DX program, "Wavescan" is written in Indianapolis by Dr. Adrian Peterson, DX editor for Adventist World Radio, and it has been produced over the past several years by Jeff White at WRMI Radio Miami International in Miami. This program is on the air from WRMI in Florida, KSDA on the island of Guam, and seasonally by several of the shortwave relay stations in the AWR network, and also over WWCR and WINB in the United States. All reception reports to "Wavescan" for the last week in November will be QSLed with a special "Last Week" endorsement for WRMI Miami, and all reception reports to "Wavescan" during the first week in December will be QSLed with a "First Week" endorsement for the new WRMI at Okeechobee. These special endorsements will be applied to all QSL cards issued for these special editions of "Wavescan" as heard on any of these stations that carry the program, though, where possible direct broadcast from the old and the new WRMI would also be appreciated. "Wavescan" may also be heard via numerous electronic deliveries, including station websites and iPod deliveries. Listeners are encouraged to send their reception reports for these broadcasts to the Wavescan address in Indianapolis with address label and return postage, and also to the station that is carrying the programming, and also to the address for the new WRMI. The last edition of "Wavescan" via the old WRMI will be a special tribute to this station, and the first broadcast from the new WRMI will honor this new development. (News release from Dr. Adrian M. (Ericsson) EDXC Conference 2014 The European DX Council has decided to hold its next Conference on Sep 19-22, 2014 in the Nice area of France organized by DSWCI-member Christian Ghibaudo. Instead of having the conference in Nice only, we would like to have it in two places as it has been a practise already earlier. The first part of the conference is planned to be held in Tende, a small village approximately 80 km northeast from Nice. Tende can quite easily be reached for instance by train from Nice. In addition, having the conference in Tende we can keep the costs and conference package fees lower. We shouldn't forget that we DXers are always interested to hear/see something xtra and unknown. That is why we would like to propose you this alternative. The first and absolutely preliminary programme could be as follows: Friday, 19 September 2014 - starting 1400 local time arrival in Tende & check in at the hotel - 1700 EDXC conference check in starts - 1830-2000: Opening of the conference, some lectures and presentations - 2000 Dinner on your own Saturday, 20 September 2014 - 0700-0900 Breakfast - 0930-1230 EDXC programme - 1230-1400 Lunch - 1400-1600 A tour in Tende - 1630-1830 Woody Allen's film "Radio Days" from 1987. - 1900 Banquet at the hotel (Maybe we could have our banquet in Nice on Sunday) Sunday, 21 September 2014 - 0730-0930 Breakfast - 1100 Check out from the hotel + the Excursion "Visiting three countries in one day" via Italy (Ventimiglia?) and Monaco, including visit to Prince Albert II's palace on the Rock, to Nice & lunch in one of the places to be visited during the day - 1800-1900 Arrival in Nice, check in at the hotel - Dinner (or Banquet?) Monday, 22 September 2014 - 0700-0930 Breakfast - 1000-1500 Excursion in Nice with possible visits at radio stations, incl. Monte Carlo Radiodiffusion at Col de la Madone. - 1500 End of the conference. (Kivekaes and Ghibaudo). We hope that many DSWCI-members will join us! DX-Window policy The DX-Window is a bi-weekly electronic newsletter made for members of the Danish Shortwave Club International. Its content is mainly based upon loggings and other information from our own members, but in a few cases extraordinary news from other DX-ers are included. Thus we depend on YOUR contributions which should be sent to the editor. Please arrange your contributions in the same order as in the DX-Window: Frequency, station name and transmitter location, time, date, language and programme, SINPO and add your last name in brackets after each item. All times are UTC and frequencies in kilohertz. The DX-Window primarily deals with news and loggings of rare shortwave broadcasting stations, particularly domestic services. It must be news compared to our latest Domestic Broadcasting Survey. The editor is free to cut hard and bring only the hottest items, he receives. Reproduction of single items from the DX-Window is allowed, provided that due credit is given to the contributor and to the DX-Window. The DX-Window is distributed in three versions: A) By e-mail as an attachment in .doc-, .docx- or pdf-format with all original graphics, or B) as a large e-mail in .txt-format where the graphics may be missing, but with no attachment. C) Can be downloaded from our website http://www.dswci.org/members/index.html . You can get your copy changed to another version at any time, or unsubscribe, just by telling the distributor. Loggings or schedules of regularly heard stations should NOT be sent to the DX Window. Such loggings can be sent to our SW tips editor Klaus-Dieter Scholz at logs@dxer.de . Schedules are welcomed by the editor of World News, Jaisakhtivel at ardicdxclub@yahoo.co.in .
