1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. SPRINKLER SYSTEM
An Integrated system of piping designed in accordance with fire protection
engineering standards (NFPA - 13). The portion of the Sprinkler system above
ground in a network of specially sized OR hydraulically designed piping installed
in a building, structure, OR area, generally overhead and to which sprinklers are
attached in a systematic pattern. The valve controlling each system riser is located
in the system riser OR in its supply piping. The system is activated by heat from a
fire and discharges water over the fire area.
B. PRO-INERT SYSTEM
A Total Flood ProInert Fire Extinguishing System uses IG-55 as the fire
extinguishant. IG-55 is an inert gas mixture consisting nominally of 50% argon
and 50% nitrogen. t shall include all mechanical and electrical installation, all
detection and control equipment, IG-55 storage cylinders, system actuation
equipment, discharge nozzles, pipe and fittings, manual release and abort stations,
audible and visual alarm devices, auxiliary devices and controls, shutdowns,
alarm interface, caution/ advisory signs all other operations necessary for a
functional ProInert Fire Extinguishing System.

3. THEORY OF OPERATION
A. SPRINKLER SYSTEM
When a fire occurs in any floor, heat rising from the fire breaks the glass built in
the sprinkler head, releasing water into the fire. As a result of which there is a
drop in the system water pressure and the fire pump starts feeding water to the
system. At this stage the Alarm Check Valve and/or Flow Switch gets operated
indicating a water flow in that particular floor / section which is relayed to the
Main Fire Alarm Panel and the Fire Alarm gets activated.
B. PRO-INERT SYSTEM
Nozzles, Pipes and Fittings, Manual Release and Abort Stations, Audible and
Visual Alarm Devices, Auxiliary Devices and Control, Shut Down, Alarm
Interface, Caution/Advisory Signs and Functional Checkout testing.
