ABSTRACT
This report is submitted for the requirements of the degree of Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. This report is a summer internship report submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in civil engineering as per norms of the University of Lahore. I visited the site for construction of King Edward medical university, Lahore in my training period and attained technical knowledge during the project. And after that i was able to compile this report. The report consists of brief study and description of material, equipments and procedures used at site for construction of King Edward medical university. I have put my best to elaborate the actual site conditions, the problems faced there and the tactics used to tackle those problems. The main objective of this report is to tell about the execution for construction of King Edward medical university. The report also covers the basic aspects of safety, planning, feasibility and economy at the construction site.

MATERIALS
Steel bars Steel bars are laded in 8in thick slab Sand Sand was used to make cement paste which was used for construction. Binder materials These materials were used as a binder material such as cement and concrete. Water Water is used to make a paste of cement and sand. And it is also used to make concrete. It is very necessary to maintain the required strength of concrete and to control the hydration of concrete. It is a major component to improve workability.

Construction Management
Basic Concept

Construction planning is a fundamental and challenging activity in the management and execution of construction projects. It involves the choice of technology, the definition of work tasks and many other things. An effective construction plan is the base for the development

13 | P a g e

of the budget and the schedule of the work. A good construction plan is very critical part of a project.
Selection usage of technology & method

Sometimes it is very necessary to formulate a number of construction plans and techniques based on alternative methods and then select alternative methods and techniques. And then select a most suitable technique for the application in the actual field.
Work task

A project may involve thousands of work tasks, its important to make a schedule for those tasks. That can be time taking and lengthy but that is mighty effective in the context of the planning of a project and ultimately it saves time in the field as u can perform many tasks parallel to each other.
Relationship among different work activities

When the work activities have been defined then make relationships between those activities. By this way we can signify that activities must take place and completed in a particular way. And by developing relationships between different work activities we can save our time because we can know that which activity is following the ongoing activity and we can make arrangements accordingly.
Estimation of duration of work activities.

Each work activity has some time duration. And by using these durations we can prepare our schedule. We can assume that certain activities will take certain time but in actual work those activities may take longer time and we should keep in mind to do effective scheduling.
Requirements of resources

Resource requirements are usually estimated for each activity. The total sources required for the project are the sum of the resources required for the various activities. By making resource requirement estimates for each activity, the requirements for the particular resources during the course of the project can be identified.

Safety

Following safety measures should be carried out on the construction site. There should be hard hats on site. There should be eye protection on site. There should be hearing protection near loud equipment. There should be safety shoes for workers. There should be proper first aid at the site.

Dome
At that time construction of dome was in progress. All the details of dome are given

Conclusions
I worked there and I felt that my working abilities and my skill level has improved and groomed a lot and that is a very positive sign for me. I gained the experience to study keeping in mind the actual field so that I can implement my knowledge in a very effective way in the field. Main deficiency in the project was proper planning and planning lacks in almost all the projects all over the PAKISTAN. And that causes major delays in the duration of the projects. And safety measurements very also not taken very effectively, and that can cause a permanent disability or a life of any person, and that can be very shameful. This experience was very helpful for me and I gained much more knowledge through it. I understood the working process in the actual field and I came to know the actual relationship between contractor, client and consultant. I felt that actual working in the field was a bit different from studies. I observed proper application of knowledge which I gained during studies in the field and I was very happy after seeing that. I also got experience in slabs and beams designing. Many of the slab and beam were design by engineer. I saw different section of beams in which steel bars were laid at both sides. Stirrups were provided. 8 inch thick slab were designed. The most I got experience is about domes. At that time dome construction were in process. Which was placed on the beam. All load of dome was transferred to beams. No such load was placed on slab of dome. I personally think that there should be a full semester in which student can get exposure of the field. And there should be proper grading for that so that each and every student can pay full attention in the field work. I gained so much experience in just one moth thats why I think that a full semester would be very helpful for that purpose. I obtained very much experience of public dealing. I learnt that how to deal with a labor and a higher authority person. I learnt so many thing s which would be very helpful in my future and my career. Major change in me that my understanding was improved a lot. And my coordination was also groomed to another level.
