Present Lebanon – Purchasing / Procurement Officer.
• Maintaining purchasing operations for 4 vessels
(Car Carriers).
- Receiving requisitions from the vessels.
- Sending inquiries for different suppliers.
- After receiving quotations, we send for
approval to our Fleet manager &
Technical Superintendents.
- Processing of the order by confirming to
the supplier, then following up the
delivery to the vessel.
- Following up of the payment terms &
deadlines of the suppliers with the
financial department.
- During all the above steps, we try to
maintain the best filing system possible,

Crewing Supervisor – Abou Merhi Crew Ltd.
• Acting as Human Resources Manager for the
company’s vessels:
- 8 Trade vessels – Car Carriers (150-160
crewmembers).
• End decision making in coordination with the CEO.
• Planning, improving and implementing a suitable
recruitment system.
- Contacting Manning Agents in Arab countries
(Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt) & Foreign
Countries.
- Performing interviews with seamen in different
positions (Officers & Ratings).
- Following different interviewing criteria for
Officers (Engine or Deck) & Ratings (Engine or
Deck).
- Following ISM (International Safety
Management) systems in choosing candidates
with full certified documents needed for every
rank and for every flag state according to IMO
(International Maritime Organization).
- Making sure that the candidate – whether officer
or rating – have enough experience on his
seaman’s book to be hired on our vessels.
- Improving our recruitment system by
implementing a simple English language
examination to test their knowledge of Basic
Safety procedures and equipment on board
according to IMO and SOLAS System (Safety of
Life at Sea).
- Studying & investigating thoroughly the
candidate’s previous experiences / sea services
before hiring in order to minimize the possibility
of having any crew problems in any port in any
country which may lead to trouble with the
vessel’s port stay or trade line.
- Following up the candidate’s signing-on
procedure (Contract signature, flight to
destination) and signing-off procedure (handing
over, flight back home).
- Signing contracts with crewmembers according
to the IMO, under the conditions of ITF & ILO.
- Maintaining – along with the assistant - a clear
and detailed filing system (Soft & Hard copies),
this is easily accessible to any authorized
employee.
- Having monthly appraisals for all crewmembers
on board our vessels to maintain a certain
standard of knowledge and professionalism with
our seamen. All these appraisals will be added
to the crewmember’s file to be checked on
future hiring.
- Attending vessels from time to time to check on
the crewmembers, and to encourage them to
work harder, especially that they stay almost 6
months away from their families and friends.

December 2003 – • Following up the Payroll System in coordination


October 2005 with the Financial / Accounting Department, by
providing them with monthly deductions,
expenses, and allotments as it is sent monthly
from the all the vessels, in addition to any extra
payments or bonuses granted to crewmembers.

• Supervising the payment of salaries to the


crewmembers’ families, whether by cash or by
bank transfer.
• Acting as an operations coordinator with our
personnel on board our vessels (Fleet Manager
Mr. Macka – Tech. S.I. Mr. Abdo – Port Captain
Capt. Boutros) regarding different present
matters (Technical repairs, Dry-dock items,
requisitions, logistics, repair crew, etc…).

• Maintained professional correspondence (e-


mail, phone and fax communications) with
different national and international manning
agencies.
• Underwent some sessions and seminars by
October 2002 – European and Arab Technical Engineers and
December 2003 Captains in our offices in order to learn and
know more about the criteria of interviewing
seamen (Deck & Engine).
• Carried out interviews as well as assisted in
interviewing higher ranked seamen (Captains,
Chief Engineers, etc…).
• Made a check list concerning ISM certificates
for every rank on vessels.
• Tested the crewmembers with their English
knowledge of basic safety terms on board
vessels. All of these tests were done to avoid
February 2002– any deficiency in the periodical ISM Audit report
March 2002 done by the Flag State or the Class of the
vessel.
• Made sure that all the needed documents are in
every crewmember’s file. In case of any
document missing, I have to follow up with
seaman in order to finalize it.
• Assisted in the distribution of salaries to the
August 1999 – families.
September 1999 • Made sure that all signing on crewmembers
have their Company Uniforms with them upon
traveling to join the vessel, and wore them
upon vessel’s arrivals to different ports.

(Head Office), in addition to branches in
