PA2.1 will calculate steelNsa and seismic(concrete or bond)NN for tension loads. If steelNsa < seismic (concrete or bond)NN and the anchor is a ductile steel element D.3.3.4 is satisfied. Design Report will indicate Fastening meets the design criteria !

PA2.1 will calculate steelNsa and seismic (concrete or bond)NN for tension loads. If steelNsa > seismic (concrete or bond)NN and the anchor is a ductile steel element D.3.3.4 is NOT satisfied. If the anchor is a nonductile steel element D.3.3.4 is NOT satisfied. Design Report will indicate Fastening does not meet the design criteria !

PA2.1 will calculate steelVsa and seismic concrete VN for shear loads. If steelVsa > seismic concreteVN and the anchor is a ductile steel element D.3.3.4 is NOT satisfied. If the anchor is a nonductile steel element D.3.3.4 is NOT satisfied. Design Report will indicate Fastening does not meet the design criteria !
www.hilti.com R.T. Morgan | PA2.1 Seismic Provisions | October 2010
The PA2.1 Design Report may indicate Fastening does not meet the design criteria ! if D.3.3.4 has been selected as a design option. The ductility requirements of D.3.3.4 do not have to be met if designing nonstructural components per IBC 2009.

Click Yes to re-input loads corresponding to yielding of the attachment. The Enter loads option will open.
PA2.1 designates the reduction factor for nonductile failure modes: nonductile nonductile defaults to 1.0 in the PA2.1 calculations when D.3.3.5 is selected. PA2.1 will calculate seismic(concrete or bond)nonductile NN for tension loads using nonductile = 1.0. PA2.1 will calculate seismicconcrete nonductile VN for shear loads using
nonductile = 1.0.
www.hilti.com R.T. Morgan | PA2.1 Seismic Provisions | October 2010
Users can input values for nonductile = 1.0 via the D.3.3.6 option when designing nonstructural components per IBC 2009. PA2.1 will calculate seismic(concrete or bond)nonductile NN for tension loads using nonductile = 1.0. PA2.1 will calculate seismicconcrete nonductile VN for shear loads using
nonductile = 1.0.
www.hilti.com R.T. Morgan | PA2.1 Seismic Provisions | October 2010
The PA2.1 Design Report will alert users to inputting values for nonductile equal to 1.0 corresponding to yielding of the connection.

PA2.1 designates the reduction factor for nonductile failure modes: nonductile nonductile defaults to 0.4 in PA2.1. Users can input values for nonductile ranging from 0.4 to 1.0. PA2.1 will calculate seismic(concrete or bond)nonductile NN for tension loads using the value input for nonductile when D.3.3.6 is selected. PA2.1 will calculate seismicconcrete nonductile VN for shear loads using the value input for nonductile when D.3.3.6 is selected.

Permits users to select uncracked concrete via the Base Material tab for seismic conditions. PA2.1 will perform calculations using uncracked concrete parameters: kuncr , k,uncr , k,max,uncr , c,N , c,v , etc. PA2.1 will still apply any seismic-specific factors to calculated values: N seis , seismic , etc.
