With respect to a woman, its performance early when the dawn has not yet become bright is recommended. b. Maghrib Salah: it is recommended to pray early in winter and summer. c. Isha Salah: it is recommended to delay until the first third of the night. 2. Three times during which it is not valid to perform obligatory and necessary prayers are: a. The rising of the sun until it completely rises. b. When the sun is at its peak (midday zenith) and c. When the sun draws near to setting until it sets. 3. Hanafis: Total 14 Ayat of Sajdah in the Quran. The SECOND Sajdah in Surah Hajj is not counted. Maliks: Total 11 Ayat of Sajdah in the Quran. The SECOND Sajdah in Surah Hajj, Sajdah of Surah Najm, Surah Inshiqaaq and Alaq are not counted. Shafis: Total 14 Ayat of Sajdah in the Quran. The Sajdah in Surah Saad is not counted. Hanbalis: There Mashoor (well known) view is the same as Shafis while a weaker opinion counts all 15 as Ayats of Sajdah. 4. It is disliked to offer voluntary prayer after the Asr Salah. 5. Linguistically, Adhan means to inform.

According to the Sacred Law, it is to carry out and notify the people about the entrance of the time of prayer with specific sayings. 6. There are 3 views: a. 1st Year Hijrah Proof: In the beginning after the Prophet (saw) migrated to Madinah the numbers of Muslims were little. It was not difficult to gather them for Salah. It was only after numbers increased that the order was given. b. 2nd Year Hijrah Proof: A Hadeeth mentions the following, People during the time of the Prophet (saw) used to gather for prayer when the caller used to announce As-Salaatu Jamia Tun , but after the order of the change of Qiblah the order of Azaan was given. It is unanimous that the change of Qiblah took place in 2nd Year Hijrah. c. In Makkah (prior to Hijrah) Proof: A Hadeeth mentions, During the night journey Allah revealed Azaan to the Prophet (saw), the Prophet (saw) came down and taught the words to Bilal (ra). But Hafiz ibn Hajr has mentioned these types of narrations are NOT sahih. 7. Hazrat Abdulah bin Zaid (ra), in some narrations it is mentioned Hazrat Umar (ra). 8. In Makkah, when the non-believers used to drag Bilal (ra) in the hot sand he used to say Ahad (the one) repeatedly. He elevated the name of Allah in hardship. So Allah gave him the honour to elevate his name in ease and become the Muazzin of the Prophet (saw).

9. Definitions: a. Tarbi: Saying Allahu Akbar FOUR times in the beginning of Adhan. b. Tathniyah: Saying Allahu Akbar TWICE times in the beginning c. Tarji: The repeating of SHAHADATAYN 10. Imam Shafi and Imam Malik: Sunnah Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Ahmed: NO Traji in Adhan. 11. Imam Shafi goes the way of Tarbi. Regarding the Tarji it is first saying the Shahsatayn twice in a lowered voice and again in a loud voice, twice. 12.Fill in the following two gaps. To call out the Azaan for the 5 daily prayers is Sunah Muakhada and it is established from Hadeeth Mutawatir. 13. Linguistic: To stand up Sacred Law: To stand for repeating the words of Azaan just before the commencement of congregation. 14. According to Mufti Ubaid-ur-Rahman, It is not jaiz for a person without a beard to call out the Azaan. If he does it is Wajib to repeat it. 15. Imam Shafi: Jaiz (allowed) but Makrooh. Imam Abu Hanifah & Imam Ahmad: Jaiz and NOT Makrooh 16. Falah and Fawz both mean success. Falah includes success in this world and the Akhirah, while Fawz is just success in this world. So, this indicates that Salah is success in this world and the hereafter. 17. Everybody is agreed that it is Makrooh to call out the Azaan and Iqamah without a separation. Imam Abu Hanifah: All Namazs except Maghrib Salah Azaan and Iqamah 1) Stand quietly and wait the time it takes to recite 3 verses of the Quran or one long verse.

2) Walk 3 steps The Sahaabin say: Sit between the Azaan and Iqamah the duration that Imam sits between the 2 Khutbahs of Jummah. 18. If one has missed a number of prayers he is to call out the Azaan for the first and make the Iqamah. And for the remainder, it is Makrooh to abandon the Iqamah. 19. Sadaqta wa barar tha Aqama ha Allahu wa-ada maha 20. According to Imam Shafi the Awrah of a male is, including the naval upto above the knees. The belly button is included. 21. The opening Allahu akbar is called Takbir-e-Tahrimah. Imam Abu Hanifa: To say the opening Takbir without separating it from ones intention is conditional for prayers. They can be synchronised or one may make the intention then say takbir without a long gap. Imam Shafi: The intention of Salah and the opening Takbir have to be synchronised. 22. If a person is performing Salah alone (Munfarid), does he have to specify an intention for a: a. It is obligatory for a Fardh Salah. b. It is not conditional to specify the intention for a voluntary prayer and c. Sunnah prayer, one group say Yes you have to specify and others say NO because it is in the same category as Nawafil (voluntary)
