Creating a Sketch Render in Archicad

A step by step guide to creating a simple sketch render in Archicad and placing it into a layout sheet.

1. Select the Document menu. 2. Select Creative Imaging menu item.

3. Select Photo Rendering Settings.

4. Change the render engine to Sketch 5. Check the Keep Proportions of 3D Window box. 6. Set the Resolution to 300 dpi. (this will ensure your image is large enough to print.

7. Press the Size to 3d Button. *Optional - Change the dimension of the render from pixels to CM and resize the output size of the final render.

8. Select the different Sketch Render Engine you would like to use.

*note - the number of polygonal edges in your model will increase the time it takes to produce a sketch render using Archicad.

9. Select the Enhancements tab and adjust the various settings to affect the result of the sketch render. 10. Select the Sketch Line Settings tab to adjust the sketch line settings. 11. Select the Hatch Line Settings to change the hatch line settings. 12. Select the Shadow Line settings to change the shadow line settings.

13. Select the Background tab to change the type of background which is being used. You can change the background to different colours or to a different picture. (The Archicad library has several sketch type pictures avaliable.)

14. Press the ok button to close the Photorendering Settings dialogue box.

18. With the render open, click on the save icon. 19. Type in the file name and select the correct file type. 20. Click on the save button to save the rendered image as a jpeg.

20. Navigate to the layout book and select the More tab in the ToolBox.

21. Select the Figure icon to open the figure menu.

22. Press the Open Button and navigate to the location of the file you previously saved.

23. Press the Ok button and place the image onto your layout sheet.
