ASTROLOGY AND THE KYBALION

by Manoj Soma of http://www.facebook.com/groups/schoolofmysticarts/ What is the Kybalion? The Kybalion is a text about hermetic philosophy. It has a mysterious origin but apparently authored by : Hermes Trismegistus. It appeared in about 1908 in a publication from the Yogi Society.

Hermes Trismegistus (Thrice-Greatest Hermes), is a legendary, semi divine figure who is said to have brought learning to Egypt in the remotest past. Hermes Trismegistus is often identified both with the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth In reading this text, I feel a sense of real clarity and intelligence to it. I sense it represents Mercury in transmission, and the symbolism around Hermes, Thoth, is very mercurial. I recently re-read the Kybalion and found all the principles in some way or other related to the science of astrology. I call it a science as this science seems to already accept the interrelated nature of things that areas such as quantum physics are only just catching up. Either we spend all our time and effort creating massive large hadron colliders (Which I am sure have their space) or we can take the direction of those mystics who cognised his information through internal illumination and mind. What follows are the 7 principles of the Kybalion and How they relate to the science of astrology, many of these concepts are occurring in lots of the self help books out at the moment, the secret, the law of attraction, Celestine prophecy etc. The 7 Hermetic Principles. "The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open." The Kybalion. I. THE PRINCIPLE OF MENTALISM. "THE ALL is MIND; The Universe is Mental." The Kybalion.

Everything in a chart is part of a universal, infinite, living mind. Without the mind, there is no existence. Without the mind, there is no chart, or no concept of planets. Everything is relative to that mind. The mind pervades all things. When you look at a chart, know the chart to reflect a small portion of everything that that we live within, and know this to exist within mind.

II. THE PRINCIPLE OF CORRESPONDENCE. "As above, so below; as below so above." The Kybalion. By understanding the laws of geometry on a micro level, we were able to understand the complexities and unknowns of the physics of space. As the planets above move, below a mirror image of these conditions take place on earth and in our lives. This is a fundamental principle of astrology III. THE PRINCIPLE OF VIBRATION. "Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates." The Kybalion. Everything in the universe is in motion, nothing is at rest. Planets orbit the sun, Moons orbit the planets, the sun orbits the galaxy, the galaxy is in movement around other galaxies. Even what appears to be still, is in rapid vibration. From the atom, to the molecule to the worlds and the universe, the astrological chart is in a state of constant flux IV. THE PRINCIPLE OF POLARITY. "Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled." The Kybalion. All aspects of a chart are in duality, where you sense good, there is the opposite extreme of it. Only be reconciling the difference is the truth found.Everything is a variation of the one and variation is relative to the one. Do not look at a chart in terms of good or bad, understand it from the point of view of oneness. Alchemy takes gold from dross. V. THE PRINCIPLE OF RHYTHM. "Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates." The Kybalion. The planets move to a cyclical rythm, ther are are ups and downs, highs and lows, how far something can be bad, is how good something can become. This is how balance is maintained in a chart. Everything rests on everything else. VI. THE PRINCIPLE OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.

"Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law." The Kybalion. There is no such thing as chance, every cause has an effect, and every effect has a cause, even if we can't see it. In our lives, each situation has a cause. To rise above cause and effect, one can become more a part of a creative cause, rather than be in the effect. The masses may be carried along by the effects of the environment. The more we come to our own light, the more we become causal agents and start to find our own direction. Astrology has a purpose in unveiling this light and enabling us to become one with these principles. It shows us the influence of the planets (the effects) and allows us to see a bigger picture, so that we are not seized into the way of thinking and reactive being of the mass consciousness. VII. THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER. "Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles Gender; manifests on all planes." The Kybalion. Everything is in duality, and the duality is one. The Sun has the moon, Mars has a masculine and a feminine side. One can be born in the night or the day. No creation is possible without opposites. Our charts contain the principles of gender within them. Each of us contain planets that represent the man and the woman. Within the man is the woman, and within the woman is the man. Within a man's chart is a woman, and within the woman's chart is a man. In understanding the energies, one returns to a self-unified state.
