SECTION 16145 LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM PART 1 - GENERAL Read and conform to all electrical sections

of these specifications,the general instructions for electrical division, section 16010, ID and all specialist area requirements apply to and form part of all electrical sections. These shall be read in conjunction with design drawings. 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions apply to this Section. B. ID, Landscape design, indoor & outdoor external lighting design including Faade lighting. 1.02 SUMMARY This sections includes lighting control strategy and a control system for Hotel tower, residential tower, Retail mall, Car park, Landscape areas, All BOH areas and external lighting etc. as specified here in, shown on drawings & described in other related documents. 1.03 SCOPE/DESCRIPTION A The Electrical Contractor shall furnish, install and commission the Low Voltage Lighting Control System and other equipment as described herein and shown on drawings. B Equipment manufacturer's Authorized Representative: test installed system, instruct Owner's designated personnel in operation of the system. C. The system: a complete functioning apparatus consistent with the current state of the art of theatre practice and including all components necessary for the operational functions specified, whether or not each separate device is specifically mentioned. D. Attention is called to the requirement to protect control electronics from momentary voltage changes, which may be caused by clock systems. E. Related Work Specified Elsewhere: 1. 1.04 STANDARDS A. All applicable general & supplementary requirements of contract , and all other sections of Division 16 govern all work in this Section. B. All Equipment and Work: comply with "Codes and Standards". C. All Equipment: C.E. Listed. Proof of listing shall be provided. D. All Equipment: the products of one manufacturer or supplier; complete with all required apparatus, devices, controls, accessories, etc. E. System rough in wiring and installation shall be made according to manufacturer's instructions and wiring diagrams. F. Control wiring for devices using the manufacturer's proprietary protocol shall conform to the manufacturer's installation and termination instructions in all respects. 1.05 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. It is the intent of the specification to provide a complete low voltage control system as specified and enumerated herein and as shown on the drawings including installation. The system shall include sufficient quantities and level of control product to satisfy the operational functions specified. B. All components, consoles, devices, etc.: complete and functioning units internally wired complete to numbered terminal strips to facilitate connection to the building wiring system. 1.06 PROPOSAL FORMS A. The apparent low bidder shall furnish a Bill of Materials and a full description of all items and devices, which are proposed to be a part of the total system within 5 business days of the Bid Date. B. Each bid: include complete product descriptions including any changes required in the wiring schematic shown on the bid drawings to connect the proposed system into the building. Bids, which do not provide adequate data for product evaluation and installation criteria, will not be considered. 1.07 SUBMITTALS A. Submit complete shop drawings, riser diagrams, cut sheets in accordance with Division 16 and General Provisions. B. In addition to the copies required for general distribution, submit one set of informational prints directly to the Consultants. Copies of all shipping lists, bills of lading, etc., shall be distributed to the Engineer and Consultant. Nomenclature of

items listed on shipping documents shall be identifiable on the original Bill of Materials for confirmation of items received in the field. C. Provide a written line-by-line review of the specifications & their compliances . D. Include a complete schematic of the system. 1.08 WORKMANSHIP A. The fabrication of all equipment: incorporate only new and unused materials. This includes all metal components in various shapes required such as plate, bar, rod, castings, structural, stampings, forgings, clamps, bolts, and all other accessories not mentioned. B. The mechanical fabrication and workmanship: incorporate neat and mechanically acceptable practices such as clean drilled and punched holes without flash; hand smooth finish for all sheared, machined, and cut edges; and proper fit of component and contiguous parts without irregularity where matching is intended. Welding shall meet qualifications of AWS Dl.1-81 and shall be without spatter and other evidence of poor practice. All bolts and rivets shall be sized and located in conformity with minimum acceptable standards as set forth in the Machinery's Handbook and all revisions to date. C. All moving parts: have acceptable tolerances, mountings, connections, and accessories coordinated into the system in a manner approved by the Owner and Consultant. No wood construction or equipment shall be incorporated into the system excepting as may be set forth in the specifications. D. All electrical and electronic parts and components: selected and installed consistent with good practice and conservatively rated in their use in the circuit design. Each piece of equipment shall meet accepted basic engineering standards. 1.09 FIELD ENGINEERING SERVICE A. Manufacturer: furnish engineering assistance as needed during delivery and installation to assist contractor. A qualified Field Engineer shall check the installation prior to initial energization of the system. The field engineer shall supervise initial turn-on and shall make or cooperate with the installing contractor in making any required adjustments or trimming of components to enable the system to function as specified. B. The Field Engineer shall be fully experienced in the programming requirements of architectural controllers. C. As a portion of the final inspection, the Field Engineer will demonstrate the system in the presence of the Engineer, Owner and/or Consultant, as directed, proving it to be operating properly and shall provide instructions in the use and in the Owner performed maintenance of the system.

1.10 TESTING A. Standard factory test of manufacturer shall be performed and typewritten copies submitted to the owner for record purposes. B. The manufacturer shall provide for final adjustments for systems. 1.11 HARMONIZED EUROPEAN STANDARD A. All equipment and components: approved and listed by C.E. where applicable standards have been established. B. All equipment: manufactured and tested in accordance with the applicable portions of the latest editions of Harmonized European and IEEE standards. 1.12 ACCESSORIES A. All loose accessories: delivered to the owner and installed or stored as directed. 1.13 WARRANTY A. All systems, including all parts and labour, shall be under full warranty for a period of not less than two (2) years from the date of written final acceptance. In the event that any of the equipment should fail to produce capacities or meet design characteristics as specified, it shall be replaced with equipment that will meet requirements without additional cost. After occupancy, any necessary work performed shall be done at the convenience of the Owner's operational schedule, including overtime, if required. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 GENERAL

A. The Low Voltage Programmable Lighting Control System shall be designed & developed in accordance with the European Installation Bus (EIB) technology to cover control of lighting (On/Off and dimming) based on one or more applications such as time schedules, daylight & brightness, manual switches, etc. B. A two-wire bus cable shall link in parallel all sensors (push buttons, brightness sensors, timer schedules, etc.) and actuators (on/off controllers, etc.) to each other. The bus cable shall be a twisted pair, screened & shielded with solid conductors and shall be capable of handling information exchange and supplying power to the bus devices. Separate power supply to any of the sensors and actuators shall not be acceptable. The bus cable shall be laid in the building in the form of a linear, star or tree structure similar to the power mains. Systems requiring fixed wiring configurations shall not be acceptable.

C. The system shall be completely de-centralized and programmable. The programming shall be implemented via a PC or notebook computer located anywhere in the system and having access level passwords. Programming via local system switches or with no password security shall not be acceptable. Any device in the system shall be accessed for programming from the PC location without having to manipulate the device locally. D. Each device in the system shall be addressable via a software programmable physical address. Any device in the system shall communicate with any other device via software programmable group addresses (telegrams). Each individual device will respond to only those group addresses for which they are programmed to do so. There shall be an EEPROM storing the physical address, group addresses & other software parameters for every device, thus making it intelligent. No centralized processors or centralized memory storage devices shall be permitted. E. It shall be possible to program any of the devices on-line at the working site without affecting any of the system devices or the system operation as well as off-line prior to dispatch of the material to site. F. The entire system shall consist of bus lines each consisting of up to 64 devices. Two consecutive lines shall be connected to each other via line couplers that act as network filters and also provide communication between devices in different lines. In the event of failure of a device in one line, only the control functions controlled by that device shall be affected and all other devices shall continue to operate as normal. Any system with routers / couplers that require separate power supply shall not be acceptable. G. The power supply module feeding power to the network shall consist of a built in back-up power to compensate short voltage interruptions of up to 200 ms. This back-up power shall enable the system to put all actuators in a fail-safe position (either on or off or as it is) in the event of power failure. H. The diagnostic modules shall scan the system for any faults in the bus wiring and display an alarm LED in the event of faults in the wiring. I. Each of the devices shall have a built-in push button along with a LED. The LED shall lit in the event the push button is pressed and if there is power to the device, thus depicting that the device is communicating in the system. J. In the event of power failure or bus wiring failure each of the system devices (switching modules etc.) shall be programmed to attain a fail safe position (controlled circuits to become On, Off or As it is, Last status) K. All devices in the system should conform to CE standards and should be manufactured in accordance with the EMC guidelines and the low voltage guidelines. L. The Lighting control System shall be interfaced with the Building Management System so as to monitor and control the required circuits from the BMS workstation.

2.02

CONTROL SYSTEM CONCEPT

A. The programmable lighting and control system shall consist of two levels of control 1. Central BMS PC based graphics software for time based control and manual override by the operator. The software shall consist of graphics based overview of the entire building, floors and going up to the individual rooms. It shall have the necessary timer modules to control the circuits in the form of various groups. It shall be possible to pre-program the time channels in advance with special holiday programs, weekly programs, etc. There will be no separate PC for the standalone lighting control system. 2. In the event the PC is not operational or is switched Off, a second level of standalone operation shall also be possible via local controller modules capable of being programmed with switching times locally without the need to connect a PC. A 100-channel controller capable of being programmed with multiple time schedules / lighting scenarios shall be provided for the lighting and control system. Alternatively the controller shall be provided for each network group of 64 devices as and when required to ensure this standalone operation. This shall ensure that the system remains operational at all times in the auto mode. All other circuits which are controlled based on applications such as daylight, local switchesetc. shall at all times be working in the standalone Auto mode with monitoring and override control possible from the central BMS PC Workstation.

B. Lighting control system Concept The system shall achieve the required lighting control tasks based on the following applications: 1. Lighting Control: Applications: (Lighting control system is capable but not limited of performing lighting control based on the following applications) a. Local switches for lighting on-off control. b. Lighting scenes based on manual switches / time based. c. Brightness Dependent control for external and landscape lighting circuits. d. Combination of presence detection and time based control shall be used within office and residential corridor and stair cases. e. Time based Control (Switching)in conjunction with motion detection and compatible over-riding switch mechanism specifically on car park lighting but generally all other areas where shown on related drawings.

C. Lighting Control: Local switches: (Local switches shall be used for On/Off switching or as an over ride switch in conjunction with other applications such as time schedules, Brightness Dependent control (Daylight link)etc. Possible applications are in Offices, Rooms, Staircases, Central switching of critical circuits for security reasons.) There shall be low voltage system switches to control the On/Off circuits locally. However, a timer shall over ride low voltage switches in non-occupancy hours (non office hours) and on holidays. The low voltage switches system switches shall have indication for On and Off status with Red and Green colors with a possibility to reverse them via software. In the case of circuits switched in parallel from multiple signals, the switch LED shall display the true status of the circuit based on the latest signal sent to the particular circuit. It shall be possible to control any circuit in the system from any of the switch channels to ensure all channels are available for entire control of the system. Master On/Off switching shall be possible from any switch located anywhere in the system. (Low voltage switches shall be given an identifying symbol and locations as per Engineers approval). Dimming: a) The system shall be capable of dimming incandescent and low voltage halogen, cold cathodes, neons and fluorescent lamps. Dimmer modules shall be DIN rail or wall mounted type, totally self-contained with SCRs, filters and related

circuitry to facilitate noise free dimming. Dimmers using digitally fired Triacs shall be preferred to back-to-back connected thyristors. Each channel of the dimmer module shall be designated to operate the load as per the approved load schedule. Dimmer modules should come in configurations of 1 channel up to 12 channels per module, with a capacity to control a circuit rated up to 20 Amps. Dimmer ratings of 12x12A, 12x16A and 12x20A should be available, with a floor standing rack build configuration of 12 to 96 channels. Every dimmer channel should be protected by appropriate circuit protection devices such as MCBs in each of the outgoing channels, and ELCBs at the incomer. Dimmer modules capable of handling a distributed load of up to 40KW per device should also be available. Dimmers should be able to directly connect and integrate to a DMX station for theatric lighting control. The dimming system should be capable of setting lighting scenes and recalling them when required. Scene control should be available at levels between 0 to 100%, with adjustable fade rates between 0.5 secs to 15 mins. Scenes should be synchronous, where in a lighting scene is achieved in a synchronous manner in order to provide a theatrical effect. Dimmer modules should also have a manual override facility, wherein the bus command can be overridden. Power failure states shall be programmable. In case of bus power failure, the dimmers should be programmable to maintain the lighting circuits at a pre determined level. In case of mains failure, upon restoration of power, the dimmers should be able to attain a predetermined level (as it was before power failure / 100% ON / OFF / any pre determined scene). b) For fluorescent lamps, the lighting management system should be able to control a 0-10V analog dimmable ballast, DSI dimmable ballast or DALI dimmable ballasts. Ramping and scene control (levels between 0 100%) should be possible, with adjustable fade rates. Manual overrides and power failure modes as described above should also be possible. Switching: a) Intelligent relays should be used for switching electrical circuits. Relays should be rated at 10A and 20A per channel (AC3 type) capable of switching resistive, inductive, incandescent and fluorescent loads without any de-rating. Relays should be normally open latched type, with manual overrides. Magnetic and mechanical latched relays should be available. b) Relays should be capable of withstanding an inrush current of up to 120A over a period of 20mSecs, without damaging the relay contact.

Input control devices: Input modules shall comprise the following types; a) Key input units (programmable switches): These shall be available in a range of styles, colours and finishes. The key inputs shall feature led status indicators and shall be programmable as dimmers, timers, toggle and master switches.

Switches shall feature an infrared receive option and shall be programmable as scene controllers. b) Light level sensors: These devices are designed to measure lighting levels and automatically generate messages onto the bus to regulate light levels within defined limits. For indoor applications measuring range should be between 20 3000 lux. For out door applications, measuring range should be between 1 lux to full sunlight. Lux level range and set points should be programmable, and the sensor should be able to control any number of circuits connected to the bus. c) Timers: These devices should provide a 100-channel time function used to control, monitor and schedule any devices on the system. A touch sensitive graphic user interface with customised text should be provided. The device shall feature a scheduler on-board to schedule events on the network. The device shall be used to monitor and control the devices located on the network. Control devices specials a) Touch Screen The Touch Screen shall provide a wall mounted, colour interface to the automation system. The Touch Screen shall be installed as one complete unit, two-part units comprising of a monitor with remotely mounted control electronics will not be accepted. The Touch Screen shall include a touch sensitive LCD screen that can display pages of graphical items, such as buttons, sliders and images. These graphical items shall be programmed to perform control and monitoring related functions. The LCD screen shall support 18-bit colour, and shall be an Active Matrix type. The LCD screen shall be 6.4 inches in size (diagonal) and include a 640 x 480 pixel matrix. The touch overlay shall be a resistive membrane type. Touch Screens utilising low-resolution matrix overlays will not be accepted. The Touch Screen shall include a real time clock (astronomical) for automatic scheduling of events, based on the time of day, week, month or year. The Touch Screen shall allow control via an Infrared hand-held remote control unit. The Touch Screen interface shall be customisable to suit user requirements via the Microsoft Windows compatible configuration software. This software shall also include a Logic Engine module that will allow the installer to program logic based control into the touch screen configuration. The Touch Screen shall connect directly to the control network. Touch Screens and control systems that required a separate, external interface to connect will not be accepted.

The Touch Screen shall be capable of controlling and monitoring Ethernet and RS232 devices, as well as all devices connected directly to the Automation Network. Connection to the Touch Screen for configuration program downloaded shall be via either of two, RJ-45 Ethernet connections; one shall be under the front fascia, accessible without removing the touch screen from the wall. The Touch Screen shall include Cold Cathode Backlight with Light sensor for automatic backlight level control. The Touch Screen shall include a Composite video output via RCA socket (750Ohm). The Touch Screen shall include an integral speaker and shall also support external speaker connection. The Touch Screen software shall support Audio WAV files. The Touch Screen Operating System and configuration files shall be stored on an 256Mb Compact Flash card, which shall be accessible from the outside of the unit. The software shall support Alpha blending and animated buttons, with more than 256 animation frames. Software Applications: a) The manufacturer shall provide software for the commissioning and programming of the bus devices. The application software shall be used to program the control relationships between the units. The installer and maintenance personnel shall use the installation and commissioning software only. b) The manufacturer shall if requested supply diagnostic software to monitor the status of the network communications. c) The manufacturer shall provide an additional software suite that shall be used by the end-user. The software shall provide the facility for monitoring and controlling the system from a personal computer or similar. The application software shall provide the following features and functions. Monitor and control: The application software shall present a graphical interface to the user to permit the user to monitor and control the devices from the PC as well as view status of the devices. Scheduler: Then user shall have the facility to schedule events on the network. The PCs clock shall be used as the time reference. History Log: The software shall have a facility to log historical events including, logins, schedules, events and alarms.

Remote Access. The software shall have the facility to connect to the network via a remote secure connection. 2. DMX Control:

The dimming controllers shall also support DMX 512 protocol and should be capable of channelling DMX commands across the DMX loads connected to the dimmer channels. The objective of providing DMX control is to control DMX luminaries to perform a pre-programmed lighting show which should be integrated to an audio source. The system shall be programmed to run a light show at the start of an audio track. The DMX source shall be a replay unit that is capable of being programmed to run artistic lighting shows over DMX. The D. Brightness Dependant Control: Lighting circuits shall be switched On/Off based on available daylight. A Twilight Switch capable of switching lighting circuits and other loads shall be used. The brightness range of the Twilight Switch set point shall be adjustable from 2 to 1000 lux or as agreed with the consultant/client at the time of commissioning. A light sensor shall be connected to the switch controller to detect daylight. It shall be possible to over ride the circuits controlled (based on brightness) via timer channels of the TP controller. Lighting circuits shall be switched On/Off based on available daylight. A light value switch capable of switching up to three lighting groups where each individual channel has a separate switching set point shall be used. The brightness range of the set points shall be adjustable from 2 to 2000 lux or 20 to 20000 lux as agreed with the consultant/client at the time of commissioning. A light sensor shall be connected to the switch to detect daylight. Possible application is office area where we have enough daylight through building faade. E. Light Scenes based on Automatic Time programs: (Light Scenes may be created in a particular area by applying one or more of the applications such as switching On/Off lighting circuits well as dimming lighting circuits described under lighting control and dimming control above). There shall be light scenes in areas controlled by the lighting and dimming control system based on On/Off switching and Dimming.). Light Scenes shall be created in such a way that optimum use of lighting energy is achieved. Light scene control shall be via local scene switches having 3 and 5-gang switches with built in infrared receivers for accepting remote control and scene switching signals from infrared transmitter. The scene switches shall be flush mounted into a standard (3 x 3) GI back-box. Each of the switch channels shall be programmed in

such a way that when pressing the switch with a short-push the corresponding desired light scene at a particular served area shall be active by switching lighting circuits On/Off, dimming other lighting circuits and opening/closing shutters. Each of the switch channels shall be programmed to generate two light scenes giving a maximum of 6 Scenes for every 3-gang switch and every 5-gang switch. The user shall be able to create/program light scenes locally via the above-mentioned switches as per his preference without the need for any programming device or PC. A Controller device consisting of at least 100 Scene channels (groups) in the form of lighting scenarios shall control circuits (such as switching lighting on/off, dimming lights up/down etc.) on a particular network group (line) to have local standalone operation. It shall be possible to send signals from one controller channel in one network to circuits in another network if programmed to do so. This is to ensure that all scene/timer channels are available for control of all circuits in the system. Each controller shall be capable of being programmed locally with scenes for any of the 100 channels combined together, without the need to connect a PC. Each of the channels shall have a manual operation function to over-ride the channel to On or Off irrespective of the scene programs. The controller shall have a built-in EEPROM to ensure that the scene programs and control groups are retained even in the event of power failure. This controller device shall be possible to be located any where in the system by connecting it to a flush mounted RS 232 interface with the bus. F. Time based Control (Switching): (Time based control can be used as an over ride option to switch lighting On/Off, Open/Close shutters as per assigned time schedules). A Controller device consisting of at least 100 timer channels (groups) in the form of lighting scenarios shall control circuits (such as switching lighting on/off, dimming lights up/downetc.) on a particular network group (line) to have local standalone operation. It shall be possible to send signals from one controller channel in one network to circuits in another network if programmed to do so. This is to ensure that all timer channels are available for control of all circuits in the system. Each controller shall be capable of being programmed locally with timer programs for any of the 100 channels combined together, without the need to connect a PC. Each of the channels shall have a manual operation function to over-ride the channel to On or Off irrespective of the time programs. The controller shall have a built-in EEPROM to ensure that the timer programs and control groups are retained even in the event of power failure. This controller device shall be in addition to the BMS PC based software time schedules to ensure uninterrupted stand-alone operation of the system at all times. There shall be at least 2 Nos. of such controller, one used for lighting scenes and the other for automatic time programs for the project. 2.03 LIGHTING CONTROL PANELS (LCPS) There shall be a dedicated Lighting Control Panel (LCP) for every DB. The LCP shall house the system devices and the related control equipment depending on the no. of circuits being controlled. This is to ensure the power wiring between

the DBs and the control modules inside the LCPs is kept to a minimum. The LCPs shall be surface mounted IP65 polycarbonate enclosures together with built-in DIN-rails for easy installation of the control equipment.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION

A. It shall be the responsibility of the Electrical Contractor to notify the Architect/Engineer and Consultant in a timely manner prior to the execution of the work of any conflict within the Construction Documents, including the Submittals, which could affect the execution of the Section of the work. B. The Electrical Contractor shall install equipment per specifications and comply with manufacturer's instructions. System shall not be energized except in the presence of manufacturer's field engineer. Provide labour for checkout of system under direction of field engineer. C. Submit method statement for installation, testing and commissioning of the system. 3.02 COMPLETION

A. Notify Manufacturer four weeks prior to completion of wiring installation to schedule field engineer for system turn-on and checkout. B. Notify Architect/Engineer and Consultant of field engineering schedule. D. Deliver system operation manuals and instruction video to Architect/Engineer for Owner's use as soon as received. E. Provide required demonstrations and instruction periods. F. Provide as-built drawings and full system documentation and maintenance manuals.
