Our mission is to meet the whole-body needs of all women during childbearing years. By demonstrating the love of Christ toward clients, opportunities to sensitively present the Gospel of Jesus Christ will lead to the spiritual salvation of mothers, and the physical salvation of children not yet born.
Our History
Over 1300 women and men were seen at our three centers 150 babies were known born after expectant mothers were seen at Gateway Over 1000 New Testaments or Gospel of John portions were given out
Approximately 5 0 0 women made a decision to trust Christ with their lives and over 30 women rededicated their lives to Christ
The first Gateway Pregnancy Center began as a vision of many churches that desired to have an evangelical crisis pregnancy ministry in Essex County, New Jersey. In 1988, Rev. Michael Westbrook, and his wife, Maria, two volunteers at Archway Pregnancy Center, in Elizabeth, approached the Archway Board of Directors for help in beginning a ministry in the Newark, New Jersey area. Archway had been in existence since 1985. Over the next year and a half, a steering committee proceeded with the many tasks to open such a center. In November 1989, Irvingtons Gateway Pregnancy Center was incorporated.
In the fall of 1998, Archway in Elizabeth merged with Gateway in Irvington to become Gateway Pregnancy Centers. The board of directors had prayed for a new center in Plainfield for several years. Dorothy Booker spearheaded the search for the centers location and organization of volunteers to prepare the new Plainfield center for clients. The third Gateway Pregnancy Center was up and running in March of 2008. Since the ministries began, over 28,800 women have been counseled and given free pregnancy tests, referrals to medical/social service experts, and material items, and especially, the gospel!
Countless diapers, baby clothes, bottles, and other infant items were given to new mothers About 90 sonograms were performed at our Elizabeth site 13 church speaking opportunities including pulpit supply, 7 high school school/ college presentations / health fairs, 5 missions or pastors meetings, 2 volunteer trainings, a four-day prolife conference in Dallas (speaking and learning), a 7 week FBI Citizens Academy Training, 1 radio interview, I youth group presentation and 1 entire staff training in evangelism
