Christmas Light

Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 1. Are we sharing the light of Christ this Christmas or are we house with no Christmas Lights?

Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 2. The anointing does for the lost does what the sun does for mankind: It shows what is there. It shows the way and leaves one without excuse. Does your light leave one without excuse? Does your light have an on/off switch?

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Therefore we know that Jesus is light and if we accept Him we are carriers of that light. 1. It is a Recognizable Light: The story from Daniel 3:16-18 of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is a great example. Their light was a brilliant bright light that was being seen in a time of darkness. They were just as that city set on a hill for everyone to see. Their light was completely recognizable. Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. (17) If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. (18) But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up." 2. It is a Repugnant Light: Some may not take heed to the light that you display and share, but it will be seen. Just as Jesus was not always followed by some denied and persecuted you too may face this. You still though should not hide you light. Just as Jesus Said in John 15:18, If the world hates you, remember they hated me first. 3. It is a Responsible Light: We are responsible not to hide our light. Not matter how bright your witness is you must let it shine. We must witness to people, we cannot assume that the way we live shows people the way to Jesus. Let me ask you this question if a person that you see pretty regularly found out that you were a Christian would they be surprised? -Behind and light there is fire. The sun is a ball of fire. When we accept Christ and are baptized the fire is started in us. If we have no fire we will not be much of a light to this world. We must fan the fire by spending time with Jesus, waiting for Him, we must stay near to Him with our lamp so that our fire doesnt burn out. Just as John the Baptist said, Matthew 3:11b He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Sadly though if we hide ourselves in the world we too will become ineffective and our light will be hidden. Dont Let you light be hidden dont allow your fire to burn out.
