Lal Kitab4 )*,-4 ));+ pages 3irst four editions were published by #harma 9irdhari Lal 8cousin of .t. Roop /hand:4 at <a=i .ress4 Lahore. Last edition i.e. )*,- edition was published at >arender .ress4 1elhi. !s you can see the last edition i.e. )*,- edition is the most exhaustive one and sufficient for start learning Lal Kitab. ?ou can get more editions after becoming ac"uainted with Lal Kitab basics. .hotocopies of original %rdu editions are available in market. $f you can read %rdu well4 there can be nothing better than that. 9o get the photocopies of original %rdu editions. @ut if you cannot4 it becomes more difficult and depends upon which language you can read better. !"L#S$ ). The best choice in Anglish is available in the form of Lal Kitab translated by 9oswami and Bashishta and published by #agar .ublications. $t is mostly a translation of )*,- edition with some additions from )*+* edition. $t is a well proofread and neatly printed. Right now4 it is the best 8and probably only: choice available for Anglish readers. Though4 in my opinion4 the "uality of translation is not very good and so this book must be used in conjunction with any

other book. -. Lal Kitab 8The Axposition C @ackground: by .t. Krishna !shant. $t is not the recommended book by experts. @ut as not many options are available4 it is not a bad idea to take help of this book. (r. !shant has left out many important topics without which you will find yourself guessing. !lso he has created few of his own hypotheses that may or may not be true. $#!%# ). There are four !run #amhits available from !run .ublications4 /handigarh. $t is not mentioned which !run #amhita is translation of which edition of Lal Kitab. 1etails are as follows 2 $. !run #amhita 8Lal Kitab: 0yotish4 Rs. ,6*D24 Translation of )*,- Adition $$. !run #amhita 8Lal Kitab: <ast Rekha Bigyan4 Rs. -;,D24 Translation of )*6) Adition $$$. !run #amhita 8Lal Kitab: #amudrik4 Rs. )6*D24 Translation of )*+* Adition $B. !run #amhita 8Lal Kitab: /haturth @hag4 Rs. -;7D2 4 Translation of )*6- Adition $ found all above four editions useful. $n my opinion4 )*,- edition 8!run #amhita 0yotish: is more than sufficient to start with. )*,- edition is well translated but not that well proofread. Euality of printing is also not good in comparison to Anglish Translation. @ut remember beggars are not choosers. $t is direct translation 8rather transliteration 2 only change of script: from %rdu4 it is "uite close to the original %rdu edition. 3or example4 $ have seen loss of meaning at some places in Anglish 89oswami and Bashista: translation but you will not find this problem with !run #amhita. <ere you can apply your own mind4 if you have basic knowledge of <indi. Euality of other !run #amhitas is even worse but again you donFt have many options other than to apply your own common sense. -. !s mention in Anglish section4 <indi version of Lal Kitab 8The Axposition C @ackground: is also available in market by the name of 'Lal Kitab 8.rishthaboomi aur Byakhya:. !s options are available in <indi4 $ don&t think it is a good book anymore. Gther than above two options4 highly priced photocopies of <indi translations are also being sold in market claiming the &original translation& in .hotostat format. .ersonally4 $ was never able to believe whatever written on these photocopy editions due to misprints and errors. .lease go for them on your own risk.
