Taught five daily English classes (English grammar on reading and writing) for one hour to elementary through high school students. Delivered customized instruction tailored to students need to increase proficiency in English. Increased students engagement in language learning by implementing interactive lessons. Provided private instruction to individuals and small groups of students to improve academic performance and occupational skills in preparation for academic and occupational tests.
Assisted the homeroom teacher in leading daily activities for bilingual kindergarteners. Fostered social adjustment to classroom dynamics to create a safe and fun environment through extensive one-on-one, paired and small group activities. Designed an ESL placement exam assessing two constructs (listening and speaking). Created the scoring criteria (objective and subjective) for each subtest and piloted the test with the ESL students. Determined the internal consistency of the objectively scored subtest and calculated the interrater reliability of the subjectively scored subtest. Spring 2013

Reviewed the TOEFL iBT, a specialized assessment tool to measure academic English proficiency of individuals. Analyzed the test reliability and validity.
Research Proposal The Effect of Tutoring and Language Analytic Ability on Adult ESL Leaners Writing
Proposed a quasi-experimental study investigating the effectiveness of one on one tutoring sessions on the development of adult language learners writing skill in English. Described rationale of conducting research and proposed qualitative and quantitative analyses. Spring 2012
Capstone Soka University of America Developmental Patterns of Interlanguage Pragmatics in Japanese Learners of English
Proposed and conducted a correlational study investigating developmental patterns of pragmatic transfer in Japanese learners of English in different types of speech acts: correction, refusals, disagreement, and compliment response.
