CBEB 1112 BUSINESS COMMUNICATION: A CRITICAL THINKING APPROACH Faculty of Business and Accountancy University of Malaya

Task 3: Group Project (20%)


You will be watching a movie entitled ___(will be announced during the movie-watching session). While enjoying the movie, observe and identify issues that can be derived from the movie (e.g.: privacy, trust, friendship, etc). In a group of 5-6 members, discuss the issue(s) you have identified and present your arguments and thoughts in the following forms: 1) An Oral Presentation (10%): Present in a form of a Talk Show or forum to discuss the issue(s) your group have identified. In your show, you can argue both the pros AND cons of the issue(s), or you can also choose either stand (i.e. just arguing the pros OR the cons). The roles of the members in the group should include a host and several guests. The host should be able to control the discussion and time frame of the show. You may create your own characters as invited guests. For example, you may be a professional in a certain field or a particular individual who is relevant to the issue(s) you are discussing. This presentation will be evaluated individually. Therefore, make sure each individual has sufficient amount of talking time (approximately 3 minutes each). Prior to your presentation, please print a copy of the evaluation form that will be provided online, and bring it along, on your presentation day. 2) A Written Assignment (10%): Write a review of the movie that you watched, highlighting the issue(s) that your group has identified. Your review should include: a synopsis of the movie in your own words (please do not copy the synopsis from the cover of the CD, or IMDB, or any similar sources). arguments on the issue(s) that your group has identified from the movie. your groups opinion on the movie. For example, (but not limited to the list): o How do you find the movie? Interesting? Why or why not? o Logical? Why or why not? o What do you think of the characters in the movie? o The setting? The language used? The music embedded? o What are the lessons learnt from the movie? o Relevant to real life situations? How so? (Note that these are just examples and not necessarily used. You may also voice your opinions on other relevant elements) Submit only ONE (1) written assignment for each group. Make sure to include the names and matric numbers of ALL group members on the cover page of the assignment. Excluding the cover page, the paper should not exceed 5 pages.

NOTE: A penalty will be imposed for late submission of assignments, unless official letters are provided. PLAGIARISM: Any use of material from other sources must be clearly indicated and References should be given in the text.
