Welcome to your first year at Calhoun High School. This is the first year of a two-year
course. At the end of 10th grade you will take both the AP World History exam and the state
regents exam. These exams will test your knowledge from both 9th and 10th grade. The
purpose of this course is to gain a global perspective on the past. This means studying the
historical experiences of all the world’s peoples and their interactions. By bringing a global
perspective to the study of world history, we will seek an understanding of the past that places
the contemporary world in meaningful historical context. This honors course will require more
time and effort, both on my part and yours, than the regents level global course. Your success
in this course depends on the amount of time and effort you put into it. If you are not willing to
put the extra time and effort, then it is not for you. This course is a lot of work but also extremely
interesting and challenging.

Materials Needed:
♦ Three ring binder
♦ Loose-leaf paper
♦ 4 Pens, 4 Pencils
♦ Highlighters

INSTRUCTED. Remember- Textbooks are to stay at home. *

you earned on all your assignments and dividing it by the total number of points possible. Class
