What are the different activities that can be taken up to increase public awareness of environmental issues? Explain how they can help in better environmental management. Describe the various impacts of construction of large dams on man and environment. Give the possible practical solutions too. Explain the environmental impact of extracting and using mineral resources. Write briefly about the following types of ecosystems. Bring out the unique characteristics, threats and also the action needed to overcome threats: Marine ecosystem. Desert ecosystem. Grasslands. What are the major hotspots of biodiversity in our country? Why is it important to preserve these areas and how do they contribute to the environment in different ways? What are the major causes of Nuclear hazards and accidents? Discuss the ways to minimize radiation exposure in case of a nuclear accident. List the major pollution control Acts in India. Discuss the role and activities of central pollution control board (CPCB). Through population growth shows a global decline, there is still cause for worry. Explain why. What are the reasons for differences in the rate of population growth in various countries? Describe your recent visit to any cosmopolitan city and its impact on environment and discuss the various measures to control the pollution levels.

Define air pollution and classify major sources of air pollution. List the major physiological effects of air pollution on plants and human beings. Discuss the problems associated with resettlement and rehabilitation of people. Discuss the ozone depleting substances. Explain the measures to be taken to reduce their release. Discuss the scope of environmental studies with respect to the following statements: Our dependence on nature is so great that we cannot continue to live without protecting the earths environmental resources. Industrial development and intensive agriculture use up large amounts of natural resources. What are the different tropic levels of organisms in an ecosystem? Why is a complex ecosystem more stable than one with few species? What do you understand by endemic and endangered species? How are they categorized? Give examples. Explain about Ex-Situ conservation of biodiversity in detail. Discuss in detail the sources, effects and methods of control of noise pollution. Describe the various impacts of construction of large dams on man and environment. Give the possible practical solutions too. Discuss the various merits and demerits of urbanization. What are the effects of acid rain? Discuss the suitable preventive measures. Explain the trends with regard to the populous countries in the world and their environmental implications. Discuss the role of family welfare programs in the control of population explosion. Assuming youve visited any agency area with mountains, forests and streams or lakes to study an Eco-Tourism project as a part of your filed work, give a detailed report on your visit to the DFO.
