Phi Psis Great Start to a New Year by Trelynd Bradley

Vivimus et Vigemus. We live and we ourish. No words could dene California Nu more than those that conclude our motto. Phi Kappa Psis emergence as one of the most notable and respected fraternities at UC Riverside has served as a testament to the strength and longevity of the brotherhood of California Nu. The Fall Quarter commenced with a successful Fall Rush in which California Nu added a total of eight new members who embody the values of Phi Kappa Psi. The Alpha Mu class crossed over into the realm of brotherhood at the conclusion of last Spring Quarter. Wearing their letters proudly they entered the brotherhood bringing our total number of brothers to fty-six, the highest number for membership at Cal Nu thus far. (Continued on Next Page)

Chapter Report
Brothers, ! As we conclude our Fall Quarter at UC Riverside, it is a time to reect on the several successful strides we have made as California Nu thus far this year. The quarter began with the well-deserved initiation of the Alpha Mu pledge class of 6 members, which was followed by the welcoming of the Alpha Nu pledge class of 8 members due to the solid efforts from the rush committee this past summer. On the social front, we had an extravagant quarter featuring our fundraiser club event Oktoberfest, an entertaining Date Party held at the world famous Queen Mary ship, as well as a splendid social with the beautiful ladies of Alpha Chi Omega. Each of our Intramural sports teams of, basketball, football, and soccer reached the playoffs, but with our exceptional soccer team winning Intramural Championship. The philanthropic efforts we have done this quarter are what I have been most proud of. Brothers came together to volunteered in the 36th Annual Mission Inn Run that beneted our local educational programs in Riverside. While on the other side of the globe, California Nu created the philanthropy Phi Psi for the Philippines, in which we were able to collect donations to help the Filipino people devastated by the Super Typhoon Haiyan this past November. ! ! Looking ahead at this upcoming Winter Quarter, we have many events set in place to result in a great quarter. We have our Founders Day Banquet on February 22nd, 2014 at the Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, California. Set out to be a grand night with chapter awards, a keynote speaker Ben Nichols of the Phi Psi Foundation, and a beautiful venue we expect a large number of Phi Psi alumnus, both local and from several chapters, to attend. In addition to our Founders Day Banquet, our formal recruitment period is during Winter quarter. We are expecting some of the best undergraduates to seek membership into the glorious Phi Psi Fraternity. ! As of now, we have elected a new Executive Board that will replace the current E-board of Myself, Daniel Mai, and Dustin Kwon. The new Executive Board will comprise of Trelynd Bowles, Wade Harris, and Jonathon Nery (GP,VGP, Treasurer). I am both hopeful and excited for these brothers to assume the roles of responsibility as they are of such importance to the chapter, as well as for them to grow as leaders in their own right. My presidency has been challenging, self-realizing, and more than anything else, it has made me proud to be a Phi Psi. In the bond Alex Lima (10) GP #88
