Bharati Vidyapeeth is a group of higher educational institutions, established in Pune in 1964 by Patangrao Kadam, to bring about intellectual awakening

of people through the spread of education and to prepare human resources needed for all round development, particularly economic, of the country. Maharashtra has a very long and strong tradition of private initiatives in higher education. There are several organizations established by social reformers, educationists and others devoted to the cause of education. Inspired by the work and teaching of some of them, particularly Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, the Founder of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, who did pioneering work in the field of education during the last century. Bharati Vidyapeeth had a very humble beginning. It was around 1963, when he was still a part-time school teacher that Dr. Patangrao Kadam was disturbed on seeing that not many Maharashtrian students could get admissions to national level institutions such as National Defence Academy or clear competitive examinations. He noted that the reason was a relatively weak foundation of these students in subjects such as English and Mathematics. Bharati Vidyapeeth, since its inception, started conducting competitive examinations for school going children in the area. This subsequently became its major activity, which still continues. Bharati Vidyapeeth had its inception in a small room in a remote corner of an old part of Pune City. The onlookers then could not understand the word "Vidyapeeth" (University) in the name "Bharati Vidyapeeth". A newspaper once sarcastically commented that this Vidyapeeth borne in a congested lane of Pune City, would meet its natural death there itself.[citation needed] But that was not to be so. The university flourished During the last 40 years or so, Bharati Vidyapeeth has grown to conduct more than 156 educational units of various kinds right from pre-primary schools to postgraduate institutions and a university. It runs more than 78 schools and 60 institutions of higher education, including those of professional education. Among these are colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurved, Homeopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Management, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Environment Science, Agriculture etc. With a view to promote research and to create a research culture on its campuses, It has established five specialized research institutes in the areas of Health Related Sciences, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Applied Chemistry and Social Sciences. Today, Bharati Vidyapeeth has campuses in New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Karad, Satara, and Panchgani and elsewhere .It is probably the only organization from Maharashtra having its campus in the capital city of India. Its schools and colleges have dotted rural areas and even the remotest tribal and coastal areas of Maharashtra. The corporate office of Bharati Vidyapeeth is located in f Deccan Gymkhana in the city of Pune. Its 10 storied building, once the tallest in Pune, is a landmark of the city. On April 26, 1996 the Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted the status of "Deemed to be University" to a cluster of 12 institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth. Unlike most of the Deemed Universities in the country, Bharati Vidyapeeth is multi-disciplinary and multicampus. presently having under its umbrella 32 colleges and institutions of various disciplines.

There are two campus of the university in Pune: the Katraj (Dhankawadi), and Dhankawadi campuses The Katraj campus is the prime campus of BVDU and is spread across 85 acres of land, It houses 24 colleges of

various disciplines major among them are the Medical College, Dental College, & College Of Engineering Pune, This campus has a fully developed football and sports ground of 5 acres, It also houses the Bharati Hospital, and an Ayurved and Homeopathic Hospital, There are Hostels on campus for students, canteens, an ATM centre, Bharati Bank Branch, 24 hrs open Medical Store, Mess facility and the campus is a well maintained environment friendly green campus. 1. Erandawane(kothrud) This campus is located in the heart of Pune City and houses 5 major and other smaller colleges primary among them are IMED, New Law College Pune, Pune College of Pharmacy and Yashwantrao Mohite college of Arts Science & Commerce. A wide range of amenities such as Hostels, Play fields, Gardens, Canteen, Banking and Postal services, Dispensary, Watch & Ward services, Vehicle Parking etc. have been provided and properly maintained.

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering, Pune, India under Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University was established by Dr. Patangrao Kadam in September 1983. This college has truly transcended all boundaries to establish itself as a premier institute where Supremacy of technology enabled Learning, empowers the students to pursue their passion to realize their ambitions, irrespective of their geographical locale. The college is aligned to the mission Social Transformation through Dynamic Education and is therefore committed to attain global standards where knowledge is the key driving force in the rapidly changing globalized economy. The college became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in June 2000 and was thereafter accessed and accredited to grade A by NAAC further, all of its programmes are also accredited by NBA.

Health Services
All forms of health services are available at the College campus. The Campus has four hospitals, two of Allopathy, including a dental hospital, and one each of Ayurveda and Homeopathy. The main hospital of Allopathy is located near to the campus. This hospital has a multidisciplinary OPD and IPD with super specialty services. An 850 bedded attached tertiary care Bharati Hospital. It has well equipped and modern critical care facilities like the, ICU, NICU and PICU. It also has a very modern and state of the art operation theatre and all the diagnostic facilities like CT scan, MRI, mammography etc. are available. It has a 24 hours functional blood bank and pharmacy.

Hostel
We being an equal opportunity institution, provide hostel facility to our students on first come first serve basis. Each student is provided with a cot, a chair, a table, a tube light and a locker.Following are the facilities provided at hostel:

Separate hostel for boys and girls. Boys hotel capacity: 300+, Girls hostel capacity: 200+. Delicious and hygienic food served daily. Special team is formed for maintaining discipline in the hostel. Internet connection facility at hostel.

Banking Facility
The University has its own Bharati Sahakari Bank" which was established in 1971 by its founder Dr. Patangrao Kadam. The bank also provides ATM facility to its account holders. The In-campus banking provides the students with many facilities, so they dont have to rush to another bank for any transactions. Also, it provides the loan facility to the faculty and student at subsidiary rate.

Sports Facilities
Sports equipments are made available to all students. Students have emerged with flying colors in various sports activities at college, University, State and National levels. The sports ground is available to all students for various activities.

Communication System
College is using SMS (Short Message Service) facility for its students and staff members. This is a useful tool for the College to have an efficient communication system and stay in touch with Students and Staff members. Regular updates, information and alerts are being sent to students and staff members through SMS on regular basis. This facility is having excellent hierarchical structure. A class is having group leader behind every 12 students and a GFM. If the College authority wish to inform iny important information to students, a SMS is being sent to 12 group leaders. These group leader inturn inform to the memers of his / her class. Also there is a provision to send SMS to all students, GFMs, staff members, HODs.

Audio Visual Hall

The Audio visual hall (AV Hall) is a well equipped hall for seminars and presentations. ME / M TECH seminar, project presentation and Ph. D. seminar and presentations and conducted in this hall. Gymnasium
The Campus is gym is well-equipped with the state of the art equipments. The major equipments like work out machines, gym machines, fitness equipment are available. This facility is available to students at a very nominal rate.Special Yoga classes are condcuted on regular basis.

Central Library
The College provides adequate library facilities to the staff and students. Selected valuable books recommended by the experts in the relevant fields are available in the Reference Hall while the library issues books for home reading. The College aims at increasing its stock of books progressively. The library subscribes to well-known journals and periodicals especially in the fields of science, technology and current affairs. The College has spacious reading hall open for sixteen hours a day enabling the students, especially the hostilities, to study with concentration in a pleasant environment.
