1. (a) What are Multirate Systems? Discuss their importance in real time processing of signals.
(b) Explain the process of Interpolation by a factor I and also discuss how the images are eliminated with a neat block diagram. [7+8]

2. (a) What is meant by Over ow error and how it can be avoided.


(b) What are limit cycles and explain the types of it and also give their remedies. [7+8]

3. (a) State and prove any four properties of Z-Transform.


(b) Determine the impulse response for the system given by the following dierence equation y(n) = x(n)+3x(n-1)-4x(n-2) +2x(n-3). [7+8]

4. (a) What if FFT? State Symmetry and Periodicity properties of FFT and List out the applications of it. (b) Give the ow diagram of computing 8-point IFFT using DIF algorithm, mentioning twiddle factors of all intermediate stages. [7+8] 5. (a) Compare FIR and IIR lters. (b) Discuss the various cases of frequency responses of FIR lters. [7+8]

6. (a) Discuss in detail the procedure of designing an analog lter using Butterworth approximation technique.

(b) Explain how to convert an analog lter transfer function into digital lter transfer function using Bilinear transformation. [7+8]
7. (a) Derive the necessary and sucient condition for the system to be Stable.

(b) Determine the range of values of the parameter 'a' for which the LTI system with impulse response h(n) = an u(n) is stable. [7+8]
8. (a) Dene Sectioned Convolution. List the advantages of sectioned convolution over normal convolution.

(b) Perform Linear convolution of the two sequences x(n) = {12,3,-1,-2,-3,4,5,6} and h(n) = {2,1,-1} using over-lap save and Over-lap add methods. [7+8]
