STEP 1 : Observe the safety and prepare accordingly

a) We wore the proper workshop attire all the time including googles, safety shoes and proper jacket b) We observed the workshop regulation and act accordingly c) We reported all problems to Sir Helmi who is our incharged instructor.

STEP 2 : Prepare the required tools, aircraft, hardware and consumeable item IAW CAIP
a) b) c) d) e) f) g) Plastic scrapper Masking tape Scotch Brite Steel Bowl Paint Removal (Non Flammable) Zinc Dichromate spray MEK cleaner

STEP 3 : Prepare the work area

a) We wore the protective attire b) MSDS and label for chemical compatibility and reactance to aircraft component and human body were checked c) Act accordingly. d) The other area that is not involved in cleaning and corrosion treatment were covered and protected. e) Ensured the chemical and tools used are not abrasive or cause any type of corrosion f) Most chemical are toxic, we took all necessary measured to minimized contact with skin and eye g) We reported accident to the instructor immediately and observed the work area safety regulation all the time h) Instructor checked our preparation

STEP 4 : Regardless of the type of corrosion treatment follow these three steps
a) Remove all trace of corrosion b) Neutralize the surface c) Restore the protective coating

STEP 5 : Remove protective coating

a) The paint removal with brush to remove the pain and all the protective coating was applied b) Never used caustic paint removal or flammable type c) The surface with a heavy coating of paint removal and allow it to stand was covered and allowed it to stand until the paint swells and wrinkles d) We removed the paint away with a plastic scrapper e) Important note : Most paint removal is highly toxic avoid contact with skin and eyes

STEP 6 : No corrosion were found, skipped to step 7

STEP 7 : Instructor checked our work

STEP 8 : Our work have been satisfied, continued with next step.

STEP 9 : Protective coating : Alodizing

a) This process used Alodine to protect the surface of aluminium alloy were known as Alodizing and use chemical that meet spec MIL-C-5541 b) Prior to alodizing , we removed all trace of corrosion c) We cleaned the surface with approved metal cleaner such as MEK (Methyl , Ethyl , Ketone) d) We performed a water break test on the component surface e) No break in water film were founded. f) We applied the alodine on the component surface using sponge while the surface is still wet g) We worked on the area that is kept wet. h) We flushed the surface with a spray of fresh water after the chemical had its fully working time i) The application produced a uniform yellowish brown iridescent film or rainbow tint.
