Introduction:
MTH 245 is designed to meet the mathematics requirements of the undergraduate core
curriculum. This is also a required course for math and science majors. The prerequisite for this
course is a successful completion of MTH 135 (College Algebra) or its equivalent as well a basic
understanding of trigonometry. Most high school 4th year math such as Senior Math, Pre-calculus
and Analysis will satisfy this prerequisite.

Course Presentation:
In class, the course will consist of lectures, examples, question-and-answer, and class-work
exercises. Outside of class, the student will be asked to study the text and lectures as well as
working problems.
Class Cancellation Policy:
Due to weather condition or other emergencies a class may be
cancelled and efforts will be made to notify the Students in advance if possible.

In the event of disruption of normal classroom activities due to an H1N1 flu outbreak or other
contingencies, the format of this course may be modified to enable completion of the course. If
this happens, you will be provided an addendum to this syllabus that will supersede this version.
In the event of flu outbreak, you will be granted up to 3 days of missed class attendance without a
doctors note; however, you must let me know immediately when you become ill. If you miss more
than 3 days, you must provide a doctors excuse.
Attendance Policy:
Two excused absences are allowed. Each successive absence will result in grade reduction.
