Paddle Fusion is back by popular demand from the
Charlotte and Lake Norman Community who got
hooked on it in 2012 when it launched. The #1 goal
of Paddle Fusion is for the students to have fun while
exercising on the water. Simply put, Paddle Fusion is
a tness class that combines Stand Up Paddleboarding
with other traditional work out activities.
Who can participate in Paddle Fusion? Anyone who
has taken at least one beginner Paddleboarding lesson
and can swim. Students have the option to bring their
own board and paddle or to use equipment provided
by My Aloha. We have male and female students in all
age groups and tness levels. As with any tness class
we offer modications for any exercise or activity that
the student cant do. We dont want anyone to feel
intimidated. We want everyone to feel motivated!
Paddle Fusion is a system that starts with a dynamic
warm up on land (light jogging in place, jumping
jacks, lunges, high knee kicks, etc. ).
The key components of the class are:
Stand Up Paddleboarding
Full body strengthening
Cardio
Flexibility training
The great thing about this type of water tness class
is that it builds functional strength while increasing
endurance. While on the water students will of course
get to paddle. We combine several types of paddling
including:
Warm up paddling
Sprint intervals
Seated paddling
Paddling on knees
Relays
Participants will also be guided through a series of
exercises on the board which include:
Squats/pushups
Crunches/Plank
Mountain climbers and other strengthening activities

Intertwined in the class are basic exibility and
balance poses which you might associate with yoga
and or pilates. We want to make sure that everyone
understands that you do not need to be a Yoga expert
to take this class. The poses are very basic and we
will help you with them or provide modications or
alternate exercises if the student isnt comfortable
with these types of exercises on the water. For those
who love balance work weve included the following:

Our students tell us that Paddle Fusion helps them
achieve their tness goals while improving their
paddleboarding technique, balance and overall
conditioning. As Paddle Fusion Instructors, our
job is to guide the student through the process and
make sure that they are equipped to achieve their
tness goals. We want to keep people interested by
constantly challenging and motivating them and
making sure they are having FUN! 70% of all tness
programs started are quit within the rst six months.

Make a sweet solution of sugar water and borax, also
known as sodium tetraborate. Borax is not toxic, but
it should not be ingested, and it may cause minor skin
irritation. You can also try substituting washing soda
for the borax, which is sodium carbonate. The ants
will feed on the solution, take it back to the colony,
and eventually the numbers will dwindle.

Apply a paste of baking soda and water to the sting

can be mixed with chamomile to improve avor and

A stuffy nose can make sleeping difcult, contribute
to a dry throat from mouth-breathing and just be a
nuisance. There are many different ways to open up
nasal passages. Saline solutions that are sprayed or
misted into the nose can loosen mucus and help it to
drain. The same principal applies when using a neti
pot. Eating spicy foods, such as hot peppers, wasabi or
jerk seasonings, can also temporarily cause the nose to
run and alleviate pressure.

Wet the stain with rubbing alcohol and let dry to
dissolve some of the stain. Then wet the fabric with
water, pour detergent right on the stain and wash as
usual.
... clean up pet accidents
Pet urine can stain and smell. Quick clean-up is key,
but use a product that will neutralize odor. Oxygen
powder bleach diluted in a bucket of water can be
used as a carpet shampoo. It will clean up the stain
and remove the odor.
... remove a wart
Coat the skin around the wart with petroleum jelly
to protect it. Soak a small piece of cotton in apple
cider vinegar and place it directly on the wart. Cover
with medical tape or a bandage and repeat daily.
The vinegar will kill the wart in a matter of days or

Medicated shampoos and products can smell
harsh and leave hair lifeless. Tea tree oil already
found in shampoos can be applied to the scalp as a

All sorts of insects like to come indoors from time
to time. While many are harmless and some can
be benecial (like spiders), most people care not
to cohabitate with six- or eight-legged friends.
Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a powdery substance
made from small crustaceans. It is typically used
as a swimming pool lter medium to trap dirt. The
drying properties of DE can be used to eliminate
bugs. Insects walk through a sprinkling placed in
areas where they are often found (such as crevices
in a basement). The sharp, microscopic edges of
the DE penetrate the insects exoskeleton and the
product also dries out the tender internal areas. DE
can be irritating to the skin and the dust should not
be breathed in, but generally the product is safe in
small amounts and non-toxic, unlike bug sprays.
... keep a pool or spa clean
Many people think they need a host of chemicals
to keep a pool or spa clean and healthy or spend
a lot of money doing so. If you read the labels of
many pool chemicals, theyre actually household
items you probably have on hand. Sanitize and keep
the pool clean with ordinary household bleach,
or sodium hypochlorite. Raise pH in a pool with
washing soda used in laundry. Raise the total
alkalinity of water with baking soda. Match up the
chemical names to the ingredients on bags of pool

that 63 percent of all households in the United States
feature one pet or more. Todays pets are genuine
members of the family, and pet parents want to do as

I bet you can hardly believe you
just read that! Well, Im writing it
and I can hardly believe it myself!
My end-goal here is to be open and
informative, not to embarrass or
offend.
While growing up, many of us
--- women and men --- were told
that sex was something we should
stay away from or at least not
talk about. However, sensuality is
a part of our being. I believe in
guarding a girls reputation, but by
the time we are mature enough to
handle a sexual relationship, our
minds revert to what our mother,
grandmother, cousin or well-
meaning (put name here) once
told us so long ago, and thats
unfortunate, because what we
werent told is that sexual pleasure
comes with many emotional and
physical health benets.
In this day and age, its time to
stop thinking of sex as just another
guilty pleasure and celebrate in
the knowledge that its good for
your health. Here are six examples;
1. Cardiovascular health. Our
heart rate and breathing increases.
(Think aerobics). Your body
actually does this for a very
specic reason, to channel more
blood to the genitals in preparation
for the act of sex. But thats not all
there is to it. Just the right come
hither glance is all it takes to
pump up the level of adrenaline
in your bloodstream and as
things rev up, a whole watershed
of hormones are released during
the arousal and climax process,
including adrenaline. In other
words, youre strengthening the
heart and circulatory system.
2. Improve your sleep. Ever notice
the urge to relax and close your
eyes after an orgasm? Because
we feel so relaxed in this state that
we can easily take a little nap
even if we otherwise suffer from
insomnia. This may also have
something to do with oxytocin
and the release of endorphins at
orgasm, both of which can act like
