MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ME2306: Thermal Engineering Lab - I Duration: 3 Hrs Use of Steam tables permitted. 1. Conduct the performance test on 4-stroke diesel engine at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% & 100% of full load. Determine Mechanical efficiency, Brake thermal efficiency, Indicated thermal efficiency & Specific fuel consumption. Determine friction power using Willans line method. Draw the graph for SFC, BT, IT Vs BP. Tabulate the results. (100) Maximum Marks: 100

2. Conduct the performance test on 4-stroke diesel engine at 0%, 50% & 100% of full load. Determine Mechanical efficiency, Brake thermal efficiency, Volumetric efficiency & Specific fuel consumption. Determine friction power using Willans line method. Draw the graph for SFC, BT, v Vs BP. Tabulate the results. (100)

17. (a) Conduct the performance test on Steam boiler at steam pressure of 7 bar (abs) and 8 bar (abs). Determine Evaporative capacity, Equivalent evaporation Factor of evaporation and Boiler efficiency. Tabulate the results. Take dryness fraction of 0.8 at 7 bar (abs) and 0.85 at 8 bar (abs). (80) (b) Write step-by-step procedure for conducting heat balance test on diesel engine. (20)

18. (a) Conduct the performance test on Steam boiler at steam pressure of 6 bar (abs) and 7 bar (abs). Determine Evaporative capacity, Equivalent evaporation, Factor of evaporation and Boiler efficiency. Tabulate the results. Take dryness fraction of 0.7 at 6 bar (abs) and 0.75 at 7 bar (abs). (80) (b) Write step-by-step procedure for conducting performance test on Single cylinder diesel engine. (20)

19. Conduct the performance test on Steam turbine. Determine Mechanical efficiency, Brake thermal efficiency, Indicated thermal efficiency, Rankine efficiency & Specific steam consumption. Assume dryness fraction of 0.8, generator efficiency of 0.8 and friction power of 0.5 kW. (100)
