Rep Grid Assignment for PCA Step 1

Examine the role titles below and list 10 people who fit the various descriptions. Please think of individuals whom you know personally (other than yourself), and please DO NOT list the same person more than once. You need only write the first names or titles (for example, dad, mom, Dr. Smith) for the ten people on a separate sheet of paper. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Step 2
Now examine the 22 role titles below. Please list the names of 9 additional, different people who fit some of the role titles below. Again, do not list yourself. You need only to complete 9 of the 22 role titles, so please select the role titles that easily bring someone to mind. Finally, DO NOT list any of the people from the list above, and DO NOT list the same person more than once. In other words, make sure that the 10 people above, and the 9 people below are all different people. Step 3
Install Idiogrid on your computer (www.idiogrid.com) or access Idiogrid in the 015 lab. Go to the course website and save the NomotheticselfSetup.stp file. If you have Idiogrid installed, simply clicking the link should start Idiogrid and load the setup file. If you do not have Idiogrid installed, youll have to save the setup file, start Idiogrid, and then select Elicit > Generic Rating Task from the Main Menu. You can then load the setup file by selecting the Load from File button from the options window (below). Once you have the setup file loaded, you should see the following:

Replace the ** Type 19 names here... message with the 19 names you elicited from Steps 1 and 2 above. After you enter the 19 names, select the Go: Administer Grid button and follow the instructions. At the end of the process, which will take about 30 minutes, youll see the matrix of ratings in Idiogrid. Change the Grid Label and then save the grid by selecting File > Save Active Grid from the Main Menu. Bring your grid to class on Wednesday.
