Introduction
ARRI provides sample footage, shot on an ALEXA camera with a beta version of SUP 7.0. This document provides information that will be useful for working with this material. The footage is intended for anyone who wants to test a workflow with ALEXA ProRes, DNxHD and/or ARRIRAW files. For example, to test LUTs for converting from LogC to Rec709, or to check how each of the different formats an ALEXA camera has to offer is best handled in different editing systems. Please note that this sample footage was created for workflow evaluation purposes only. It was shot with beta firmware and therefore should not be used for a quality assessment, especially considering dynamic range or sensitivity of the system.

About the Footage

All footage was captured with an ARRI ALEXA Plus 4:3 and simultaneously recorded on a Codex Onboard M and on SxS Pro cards. We recorded ARRIRAW in parallel with DNxHD, ProRes HD or the new ProRes 2K, which will be available starting with SUP 7.0. The sample footage is split into five reels. Each reel has a different project speed (i.e. time code base set to 23.967, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 fps) and contains takes at matching fps and with overcranking. Each reel also contains footage in 16:9, as well as the 4:3 aspect ratio, which is available on the ALEXA Plus 4:3, ALEXA Studio or ALEXA M. We used an ARRI/Fujinon Alura Leightweight Zoom for all 16:9 shots and a prototype lens of the new ARRI/Zeis Master Anamorphic series for all 4:3 shots. Everything was recorded in the ALEXA Log C Wide Gamut color space with the white balance at 5600K. We used a simple black and white ARRI look file on most of the takes. You can read and export it from the full set of metadata that is included all of the recorded formats. Regular speed shots were recorded with the time code set to internal and free run, using the time of day. These shots also include sound. The overcranked footage was recorded with time code set to record run.

Known Issues
Reel 1 and 2 have the same Reel Name as the reel counter was accidently reset on the camera. On reel 2, no look file was active for Clip 1. On reel 5, no look file was active for Clip 13. The Avid ALE and FCP7 XML metadata shows a false SxS-serial number for Reel 2 and 3. The lens metadata fields are empty on anamorphic takes as the Prototype lens does not have functioning LDS. The LDS metadata may show duplicate values in rare cases, which is a bug that will be fixed in the SUP 7.0 release.
