Between 1790-1840 interest in Egyptian Artifacts exploded.

Antonio Lebolo found mummies & papyri in


Egypt and sold them. Michael Chandler bought some and showed them in America for a fee.

This exhibit went all the way to Kirtland,


Ohio where Joseph Smith saw it in 1835. Joseph felt inspired to purchase this exhibit. Church members helped him to buy the mummies & papyrus for $2400.

Joseph Smith translated the papyrus.


Much to his joy, he found that one of the rolls of papyrus contained the writings of the patriarch Abraham.

Moses is a prophet that wrote the first 5 books of the Bible The Book of Moses is a JST of the first 6 chapters of Genesis The Lord revealed to Joseph many lost doctrines and the 6 chapters were expanded to 8 chapters
