CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

This chapter consists of two parts. The first part is conclusions from the result of analysis and findings in the previous chapters. The second parts is suggestions for the readers who are interested in teaching and learning.

5.1. Conclusions After the researcher discussed the research questions and the data starting in the chapter IV, it comes to the result of the study. The research questions and the findings are: 1. What are the students difficulties in mastering determiner function a, an and the? The seventh years students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Gantar ability in mastering or understanding determiner function a, an and the can be categorized as enough category. It is because the mean score or average score of a class of the test achieved by the seventh year students in answering the test is 6,3 that means the seventh year students most of them understand about determiner function a, an and the. The students difficulties in understanding determiner function a, an and the of SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Gantar on seventh years students because of direct and indirect factors. Indirect factor is economic factor, direct factors are psychology factors and linguistics factors.

First, the reasons of economic factors is most of the studentss parents are the farmer of the agriculture land that is only using rain water, so in one year only twice the farmers harvest their farm. This factors cause the studentss parents have low income and automatically become a big influence for the students to complete the device of study at school and house such as English books and dictionary. Second is psychology factors, most of students who have a psychology factors commonly have the same problems, which they feel ashamed, affraid and groggy when they have to be in front of class. They lived in the village so they often feel nervous or do not confidence to answer the questions or when they were asked by the teacher to be in front of class. And the last is linguistics factors, most of the students assumes that English is strange for them and difficult to understand. The students are more fluent or master the first language than English. English for them is a strange foreign language which previously they never use it. 2. How are the solutions of the students difficulties in mastering determiner function a, an and the? There are some solutions to help the seventh years students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Gantar in mastering determiner function a, an and the. There are several roles of teacher which important in contributing the development of students skill. The roles as follows: a. Controller b. Organizer c. Resource d. Tutor

The teachers roles can improve skill and help the students to increase their ability about applying article words in the sentences. The teacher had been as a controller, organizer, resource and tutor has important roles, great dedication and responsibility for the sake of students learning development. Besides that, the students should learn more hard in order to increase their ability in mastering determiner function, it can be done by doing many exercises at their house.

5.2. Suggestions Based on the facts above, the researcher wants to give some seggestions, as follows: 1. In teaching and learning process, the teacher should prepare the materials with suitable activity before giving the lessons, so it will be efficient and effective. 2. The teacher should give the lesson to the sudents by using various techniques. 3. Other reseacher should develop this research to identify the students difficulties and ability in learning English. 4. Students of SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Gantar should doing many exercises at home beside learning at school. 5. Society should supports teaching and learning process at school or outside the school.
