TERM 1
Term 1 reviews the core study skills necessary for effective study at Bachelors level. This includes all parts of the study process.

TERM 2
Term 2 will introduce students to both offline and on-line information communication technologies and explore how these could be utilised for finding, storing, collaborating and processing information in a learning environment and or a business environment both practically and hypothetically. Topics looked at will be a mix of Web 2.0 tools and more traditional Information technology tools.

To provide the necessary underpinning skills to effectively follow a programme of undergraduate study within the School of Business; To ensure an understanding, recognition and approach to the development of individual learning styles, learning skills and approaches; To ensure students are able to select and use appropriate information communication technology tools to assist in the study process.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. use a range of skills and techniques to ensure effect academic engagement and study approaches; 2. assess personal learning strengths and weaknesses in comparison to various models of learning style and the learning process; 3. to understand and apply good practice in the finding, storing and utilising appropriate information sources, including an awareness of unfair practice and plagiarism.

ASSESSMENT 1
Report topic:

(Report 40%)

Explain what is meant by the term unfair practice, discuss good practice approaches that with help students avoid unfair practice when preparing and writing assignments The assignment should be written in report format. The assessment criteria are split into two parts. The first 50% of the marks are concerned with the content of the answer to the question. The second 50% of the marks are concerned with the implementation of the good practice learnt in the module.

ASSESSMENT 3
Examining the Use of Internet application tools and their Impact on Learning (1,500 word) 30% As new Internet application tools have significantly increased in use over of the past decade, so has their inclusion as learning tools within academia and education as a whole e.g. Wikipedia, YouTube, Moodle etc. From this starting point write a report including the following: Critically look at a minimum of three new Internet application tools - e.g. how they are employed within a learning environment, the positives and negative aspects of using each one, the elements that could be improved etc and justify your findings In your evaluation compare traditional learning practices with how the tools you are looking at enable users to learn. Include a table of contents, bibliography, page numbers and citations within the report.
