ABOUT ISHRAE ISHRAE (The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) was founded in 1981 at New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. ISHRAE has more than 8000 members in 34 chapters and over 3000 students in 75 student chapters, across India. ISHRAE organizes International and National Expositions, Seminars, Quiz programs, Paper Presentations, Training and Workshops to achieve its primary objective of furthering the Arts and Sciences of HVAC&R. ISHRAE publishes handbooks, technical guides, a quarterly journal, operates a web portal and develops software for the HVAC&R industry. ISHRAE is harmonising industry standards, publishing a new set of Indian weather data and is closely working with the Government of India in the area of energy conservation. The Chennai Chapter was founded in 1989. Since then the Chapter has successfully conducted many seminars on a variety of subjects. The chapter operates from its own premises fully equipped with a training center. ABOUT SPEAKER Ms. Maija Virta M.Sc., Distinguished Faculty from ASHRAE Ms. Maija Virta is having M.Sc in Engineering from Helsinki University & Technology from Finland. She has more than 20 years of experience in construction and HVAC industry with main interest is on sustainable building technologies like Chilled Beams, Radiant Cooling and Displacement Ventilation. Maija Virta is a fellow of REHVA and Member of ASHRAE. She was a Vice President of REHVA 2008-2011 She is the President of Finnish HVAC-association since 2009. She participated in the National Task Force to develop an action plan for Finland to meet the National Energy & Carbon Emission Reduction Targets in built environment 2010. Maija Virta has been lecturing in many events around the world and has published over 30 Technical Papers in International Conferences. She has been lecturing in ASHRAE Learning Institute, REHVA and ISHRAE. She is the main author of two REHVA guidebooks: Chilled Beam Applications (2005), and HVAC in Sustainable Office Buildings A bridge between owners and engineers (2012). She contributed also in

writing a book Sick Building Syndrome in public buildings and workplaces the article Solving Indoor Environmental Problems: What Can Be Found Out through Individual Measurements? (2010). ABOUT SPEAKER Mr. Punit Desai, Infosys Technologies - Bangalore Mr. Punit is a chemical engineer with a post-graduation in marketing management. Punit works with the Green Initiatives/Infrastructure team at Infosys Limited and heads the Smart Building Practice. His goal is to make every building at Infosys a smart building consuming minimum energy and resources while meeting the business and comfort needs. Mr. Punit has over 11 years of experience in comfort and industrial cooling. He has worked with Johnson Controls, Thermax Limited etc. earlier and having more than 11 years of experience in the field of central air-conditioning and building management systems. BACKGROUND Course Overview : Radiant cooling is one of the cooling technologies used widely around the worin green buildings. However it is still rather new concept here in India. The product itself is simple and robust, but it sets some specific requirements for system design and operation. During this training session we will give you the different perspectives to the topic why client wants radiant cooling, what the designer should know about it, and what is critical during the installation and operation. This Full day work shop will discuss on : Some understanding about heat transfer as well as latent and sensible cooling Different radiant cooling systems (TABS, floor, panels) How to control and operate radiant cooling system Product selection examples Practical experience of design and implementation of radiant cooling in India.

Course Objectives : To help the participants to understand Radiant cooling Systems, its design, usage and integration with building HVAC designs.
