Step 1
Position the pre-assembled Grate-Fast with the body between the grating bars and the arrow on the nose pointing toward the steelwork with the top-hat bracket resting on the bearing bars. (Figure 1)
Step 2
Slide the Grate-Fast toward the steelwork until the nose ts under the beam ange. Where necessary, adjust the body/bolt to the approximate ange thickness/grating depth. (Figure 2)
Step 3
Tighten the cap screw bolt using the hexagon key. The Grate-Fast body casting will automatically rotate until it locks under the bearing bar, with the nose under the ange. Continue tightening to the recommended torque. Grate-Fast is now securely in position. (Figure 3)

GRATE-FAST FG
For fastening berglass, aluminum, stainless or bronze bar grating to steel beams
Your choice of berglass (or non-corrosive metal) grating presumes a hostile environment. In these applications, drilling the steel (and penetrating coatings) is inappropriate and counter-productive. Instead, fasten your grating with the suitable model of Grate-Fast Model FG.

PLATE-GRATE-FAST
For fastening solid oor/checker plate to open mesh or open grid grating
Plate-Grate-Fast offers high corrosion protection and allows pre-drilled ooring plates to be placed at any orientation and tted by a single person. Installation is completed efciently from above without the need to access the underside of the open-grid grating. No drilling, welding, or cumbersome scaffolding is required.
Plate-Grate-Fast
E/af (8mm) counter-sunk at socket cap screw bolt Accommodates oor plate thickness from N E/af (6-8mm), and grating bar depth from 1 W2 (35-50mm)
Bolt, casting and grating lug have stainless steel nish
Plate-Grate-Fast Installation
Step 1 Drill 1 K (40mm) diameter hole in N (6mm) oor plate Step 2
Countersink 90 inclusive N (6mm) deep
Step 8
Rotate cap screw bolt clockwise.
Step 9
The grating lug will turn toward the bearing bar until its leg makes contact.
Step 3
On 2 (50mm) deep oor bars the grating lug is set at the end of the cap screw bolt. On 1 K (40mm) deep oor bars, rotate the cap screw bolt until the base of the grating lug is W (10mm) from the end of the bolt. On 1 W (35mm) deep oor bars, rotate the cap screw bolt until the base of the grating lug is I/af (15mm) from the end of the bolt.
Step 10
Continue to tighten cap screw bolt. Grating lug will be drawn up the cap screw bolt and will a ctivate the thread locking adhesive.
Step 11
When slight resistance to tightening is felt, tighten a further three-quarter turn, approx. W (11mm).
Step 4
Place Plate-Grate-Fast into the counter-sunk hole and between bearing bars of open mesh ooring.
Step 6
Rotate Plate-Grate-Fast to position cap screw bolt and grating lug against edge of bearing bar.
FLOOR-FAST
For fastening oor/checker plate to steel beams Floor-Fast is fast, versatile, and economical
Eliminates scaffolding, welding and drilling of structural steelwork Requires no access equipment or special tools Requires no hole alignment in plates and beams One fastener universally ts beams, channel and angles Floor-Fast is completely removable
Floor-Fast
Counter-sunk at socket cap screw bolt Stepped surface ts anges from C/af to X* Bolts and castings available in both stainless and galvanized (zinc chromate) nishes Two bolt sizes: W (10mm) and K (12mm) *The standard Floor-Fast will t steelwork anges from C/af to X thickness. If working with thicker anges, Struct-Fast can furnish longer cap screw bolts and additional packing washers on special order.

Floor-Fast Installation
Use Floor-Fast to secure steel, aluminum, berglass or bronze oor/checker plate to the supporting steel or aluminum framework without eld welding, drilling or tapping holes. Secure Floor-Fast to the bottom of the plate, position the plate in the oor opening and with a simple rotation of the socket head cap screw bolt, secure the plate. Simply reverse the installation process to remove the oor plate. No other system is faster to install.
Step 3
Position the oor plate on the supporting framework.
Step 4
Using a hex wrench, release the socket head cap screw bolt one full turn (Figure 3).
Step 1
Layout, drill and counter-sink the holes in the oor plate. (Figure 1)
Step 5
Tighten down on the bolt. As it tightens, the stepped surface automatically locks under the framework ange (Figure 4).
Step 2
Prior to installation, attach the Floor-Fast clamps to the oor/checker plate, positioning the clamps straight edge parallel to the edge of the plate (Figure 2). NOTE: The stepped surface of the FloorFast clamp faces toward the underside of the oor plate.
Step 6
Repeat the operation for each Floor-Fast clamp. Holes in oor plate should be I/af diameter, counter-sunk to accept the standard K counter-sunk at socket cap screw bolt. Measure the positioning of the center of the hole drilled in the plate according to Figure 1.
