CC Downey Visit CC Downey sent a small team to work in the worst areas in Samar and I am sure they will be sharing their experiences throughout the church. We sent a short slide show of what we are involved in as well. Please ask them to share it with you. The team was led by Pastor Jesse Colon and I am sure he will share this with anyone.

Tent City Today, December 30, 2013, we visited Tent City for the first time, where the refugees from Tinago and other areas now live. The tents seem well made and like they can withstand some pretty bad weather. They have about eight people per tent right now which usually consists of 2 or 3 families. The tents have bottoms but are sitting on dirt so when it rains there will be mud underneath but not inside. Around the tents on the outside they have placed gravel so that the people will not be walking in mud. We will go back tomorrow to reconnect with the people we knew in Tinago and to spend time with the authorities for the Tent City to set parameters on what we can and cannot distribute and do while guests of Tent City including sharing the Word and worship as we have been. The people have informed us they no longer want to be called refugees or evacuees but they prefer to be called survivors.
We had decided as a church to greatly cut back on our Christmas Celebrations this year but thanks to a friend who blessed us we had a normal Christmas Celebration. Each of our ministries were able to have their own celebration as a ministry. Men's, Women's, Youth, Young Adults, Praise and Worship, etc. Our general party for the entire church included a Night of Worship, Games, a drama presented by each ministry, great food including Lechon Baboy (BBQ Pig) and each family went home with a food pack that will provide Christmas dinner for them. Each child received a gift and went home smiling. This was our largest celebration in the history of the church with over 100 men, women and children attending. Happy Birthday Jesus. Our Christmas Season theme this year, based on Hebrews 6:19 was "KEEP HOPE ALIVE".
