04 TERRYS COLUMN

Welcome to Easter Road for this afternoons clash with St. Johnstone. This game is the beginning of a hectic Premiership programme that sees us playing three home matches out of four in a period of only 12 days. Having already had three away xtures out of four it is nice to even things up particularly over the festive period, as the only match outside Edinburgh for us is the Boxing Day encounter back up at Dingwall. Of course there is the New Year Derby to look forward to, but there are a lot of points to be picked up before then

Last Saturdays loss at Parkhead was frustrating and disappointing, considering the way we attacked Celtic in the nal twenty minutes whilst also hitting the post in the process. Lady Luck was not with us last week, but there will come a time when everything drops for us, especially if enough decent crosses are delivered in to the opponents box. I was really pleased with the way in which the lads kept going in a match that was always going to be a real test for them. Everyone was talking about a Celtic backlash but apart from the goal, the home team never pierced our resilient back four and Ben Williams only had long range shots to deal with. Even then, there were some wicked deections and Bens reexes were called in to action as well as his fellow defenders who also helped to clear the danger. It was pleasing to see that the change in tactics in the second half worked well, with young Jason Cummings coming on and looking lively and busy. Our superb fans at Celtic Park really got behind the boys and the standing ovation at the end was very much appreciated by the team. Considering the hammering inicted by the champions on other Premiership sides after a European defeat, it was extremely pleasing to see that there was no capitulation from us and no running riot from Neil Lennons side. Whilst it was my rst loss as manager of Hibernian, I took a great deal of pleasure from the display, and again we took small steps forward as a group. To have the Manager of Celtic tell his players to run the ball into the corner at the end of the 90 minutes shows that the home team were under pressure and had settled for the narrow 1-0 win. This afternoon we welcome Tommy Wright and the St Johnstone team, staff, players and supporters to Easter Road and as the Perth side is directly above us in the table, a win for us today would

help to close the gap on the top six. As this is the last match before Christmas, I would like to wish all Hibees around the globe a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We will be training as usual this coming week and will be in bright and early on Wednesday morning, though we dont travel up to the Highlands until Boxing Day. I wonder if there will be a chipper open in Aviemore for the return journey, although we may have to settle for turkey and chips instead! The players wanted to go up on the day of the game as its one of the worst feelings in football to have to meet up in the evening and drive to a hotel on Christmas Day night. Still, we can really look forward to taking on Ross County again having won the Scottish Cup tie there a few weeks ago. St Johnstone have been doing well this season and Tommy Wright deserves enormous praise for the style and organisation of the team. There is a strength and determination about the men from Perth, but we have to be stronger and more tenacious if we have any hopes of winning the game. Its about time that we picked up three points and, with your terric support, we will be doing everything we possibly can to secure our rst League win in ages. Thanks for your passion and commitment to Hibernian Football Club enjoy the game.

AWAY END
This afternoon we welcome the players, ofcials and supporters of St Johnstone to Easter Road Stadium for todays crucial Scottish Premiership encounter. St Johnstone, in sixth spot, arrive in Leith this afternoon aiming to put more ground between them and seventhplaced Hibernian, whilst for the Hibees it is an opportunity to close the gap between the clubs to just one point. Boss Tommy Wright has successfully made the step up from assistant to manager and he recorded a famous European victory away to Rosenborg in his rst match in charge. The team from Perth started the season in ne form knocking Norwegian giants Rosenborg out of the Europa League before a heartbreaking loss to FC Minsk saw the team eliminated from the competition. Making only subtle changes to the side following the departure of former boss Steve Lomas to Millwall, Wright kept the nucleus of the team together.
The former Northern Ireland keeper re-signed Fraser Wright and midelder Murray Davidson after the pairs contracts ended whilst also recruiting David Wotherspoon and Gary MacDonald. Wright continues to reshape the squad and recently added Lee Croft to his squad, although the winger is unlikely to start this afternoon as he is short of match tness. After an opening day Scottish Premiership victory over Heart of Midlothian, St Johnstone drew with Kilmarnock before thrashing Ross County. St Johnstone were favourites going into their match with Hibs back in September and took the lead through a typically clinical nish from Stevie May before the Hibees hit back through Paul Heffernan and James Collins to take maximum points. Since then their results for St Johnstone have been largely inconsistent with every morale boosting victory quickly followed by a condence sapping loss. St Johnstone were looking to get back to winning ways last weekend following a home defeat to Aberdeen only for their match away to Partick Thistle to be abandoned at half-time after the pitch became unplayable. Former Ulster Football of the Year Alan Mannus had to be patient for his opportunity at McDiarmid Park, but the departure of then number one, Peter Enckelman, gave him his chance. Mannus hasnt looked back since and his excellent form has seen him earn a recall for the Northern Ireland national side. The former Shamrock Rovers stopper has kept an incredible 10 clean sheets in just 20 appearances this term. Club captain Dave MacKay has earned a fearsome reputation for his no nonsense style of defending. Never one to shirk a tackle, the combative 33-year-old has been a fans favourite since joining from Livingston four years ago. As well as being a more than capable defender, Mackay is known to pitch in with goals from time to time and scored a fantastic free kick against Hibs a couple of years ago. After progressing through the youth academy at Falkirk, Tam Scobbie became a mainstay of the Bairns side and made over 180 appearances for the club. He joined St Johnstone in 2012 under freedom of contract but has only started to hold down a rst team place this season. The full-back can also operate in a central defensive role. St Johnstone moved swiftly during the summer to tie up Gary McDonald after the player rejected a new contract with League Two outt Morecambe. Becoming new manager Wrights rst signing, Irvine-born McDonald started his career with Kilmarnock before going on to play for Oldham Athletic, Aberdeen and Hamilton Academical before his two year stint with Morecambe. Former Kilmarnock defender Fraser Wright was brought to Perth to replace powerhouse Michael Duberry in 2011. The left-sided central defender had spent six-years with Kilmarnock following a stepup from Stranraer and was mainstay of their side during that time. Since joining the Saints he has been the heart of the defence. His one and only goal for St Johnstone proved to be the winning goal against Ross County last season. Following an injury to rst team regular Steven Anderson, St Johnstone boss Wright moved to sign veteran defender Sanel Jahic on a short-term deal. The 31-year-old has 31 caps for World Cup bound Bosnia and was released by Turkish club Karabukspor in the summer having previously played for Sochaux, Zeljeznicar, Las Palmas, Merida, Aris Thessaloniki, AEK Athens and APOEL Nicosia. Former Celtic youngster Chris Millar is a hugely inuential and consistent performer in the middle of the park, yet his play rarely gets the recognition it deserves. A players player, Millar has made almost 200 appearances for the club since joining in 2008 after ve years with Morton. He last netted a league goal for

06 THE AWAY END

ST JOHNSTONE
St Johnstone in March 2010 when his side defeated Rangers 4-1 in Perth. Despite numerous approaches to the club over the last few years, inuential midelder Murray Davidson has remained with St Johnstone. The 25-yearold is an old fashioned box-to-box midelder and his well-timed runs into the penalty area will present the Hibernian defence with a threat. The former Livingston player has been on the fringes of the national side for a number of years and earned his one full cap in the 2-1 victory over Luxembourg in late 2012. Welsh winger Gwion Edwards will be hoping for an opportunity to impress this afternoon after nding appearances difcult to come by this term. The 20-year-old returned to Perth this summer on a six-month loan deal from Swansea City after he spent time with the club last season. Edwards scored his only goal so far for St Johnstone during the clubs 3-0 League Cup victory over Hamilton Academical earlier this term. The list of clubs interested in signing Stevie May is almost as long as the strikers hair. The 21-year-old has scored 12 goals so far this season including one against Hibs the last time the clubs met back in midSeptember. Strong, quick and condent, May made his Saints debut towards the end of the 2008/2009 campaign, but he beneted greatly from his time spent on loan with Alloa Athletic and Hamilton Academical. One man who will need no introduction to the Hibernian support this afternoon is midelder David Wotherspoon who returns to Easter Road for the rst time following his summer departure. Wotherspoon came through the youth ranks with Hibs and played in the clubs double winning under-19 team before breaking into the rst team during John Hughes tenure. The 23-year-old, who comes from Bridge of Earn, scored on his debut against St Mirren and went on to make 154 appearances for Hibs before joining his hometown club, St Johnstone.

HEALTH, FITNESS AND WELLBEING AT EASTER ROAD
Dedicated to helping people get t and achieve personal health goals over a 12 week course, Healthy Hibee is the latest physical activity and nutrition programme offered by the Hibernian Community Foundation. Building on the great successes of Football Fans in Training (FFIT) and Fit for Change, Hibernian is leading SPFL Clubs by also offering tness and nutrition education for female fans and families.
The Healthy Hibee coaches encourage people to lead a positive lifestyle and integrate healthy eating and physical activity into daily life. People are supported to monitor basic health indicators like blood pressure, heart rate, weight, waist circumference and provided practical information to make healthier choices. Operations Manager Stewart McGuire is responsible for the Health, Fitness and Wellbeing work of the Foundation and says: In a number of our programmes we see that when you help people to engage with their health the benets are great. We see people get more engaged with exercise and with nutrition, and they begin to pay more attention to their health generally. Weve had people say they want to make some adjustments to their eating habits so we provide nutrition information. Weve also had people come along who want to get tter and we help them with different kinds of physical activity. Some people want to manage their weight, and some people just want to get more exercise we want to support them to achieve their own goals, not ours, and that is happening. In the rst six weeks of Healthy Hibee, weve seen people lose as much as ve kilograms and get consistent with their exercise. This is just what the programme is about we are seeing great results. So far the mens group lost a total of 19kg and 48cm around their waist and the womens group lost a total of 9.7kg and 51.5cm around their waist. Importantly, both men and women are now aware of their blood pressure where they had not been before and some have been referred to their GPs for additional monitoring as needed. Every member receives a pedometer and a workbook in which to log their activities and measurements so progress over the 12 weeks can be seen. The 90 minute sessions include lessons about food groups, healthy eating or the adverse effects of drinking and fatty foods alongside physical activity that includes walking, circuit training, running and yoga. Weight loss or nutrition improvement is a personal journey toward better health, and the coaches are there to provide support to get people started. Healthy Hibee is an opportunity to connect fans with Hibernian Football Club in a unique way. People become part of a team with shared interests and similar goals, and they are able to provide encouragement to each other as they make individual progress together. McGuire said: We want to engage with our fan base and offer more opportunities for people to live healthier lives. Our health and tness programmes are a success because people engage with the information, have a good bit of fun, but begin to take their health seriously. They can do that as part of the Club they love. Funded by the Pzer Foundation UK, the Healthy Hibee programme will run throughout the 2013/14 season with the next courses starting in January 2014. JORDON FORSTER

Jordon Forster says he is enjoying Hibernian life at the moment the 20-year-old has recently agreed a new two-anda-half-year contract and has also started the last six games. Moving from centre-half to right-back at Celtic Park last weekend, Forster showed ample versatility and now says he wants to press on and establish himself in the starting line-up. Forster said: Its going well for me at the moment; Ive started the last six games and now I want to properly establish myself in the team. My aim is to become a regular in the starting line-up and to continue to work hard, so that I can improve and help the team moving forward. After growing up near Gorgie and with Lithuanian ancestry, Forster jokes he should probably play for Hearts, but stresses he believes he is playing for the right team in Edinburgh.

23

10 THE HIBERNIAN INTERVIEW

HIBERNIAN INTERVIEW
Forster said: It is a strange coincidence; I grew up in Slateford and my great grandparents were from Lithuania, but Im glad Im over this side of the city I love playing for Hibs. Therefore it was tting that his senior debut for Hibernian was an Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle which ended in a dramatic win; something Forster says he will always remember. He added: To make my debut for Hibs in an Edinburgh Derby in front of 17,000 supporters and win was something that I will never forget. The fact it was Tynecastle too a ground that I had walked past hundreds of times before was special. I found out I was playing the day before; it all came about quite suddenly. But there was no time to get nervous and the adrenaline got me through. The older lads in the team were great and helped me through it and I just concentrated on playing well and helping the team to win. I dont think my debut couldve gone any better and it was one of the best feelings Ive ever experienced, apart from walking out with Hibs at Hampden. Forster also attended Boroughmuir, where the greatest Hibee of them all, Lawrie Reilly went to school, and says if he can emulate a fraction of what the former Scotland internationalists achieved he will be satised. He said: Its inspiring to know that Lawrie Reilly came from the same area as me and went to the same school. If I can in any way emulate the achievements of such a great player then I will be doing alright. After starting off his youth career at Celtic, Forster, who was with North Merchiston Boys Club, moved to Hibernians Academy in the summer of 2010. Forster says the fact everything didnt work out for him at Celtic gave him an extra incentive to try and make it work at Hibernian. He said: It wasnt going to happen for me at Celtic. Hibs were the rst club that came in for me and after a trial match I joined the under-19 squad that proved to be a brilliant move. Forster progressed well at youth level before being sent out to Berwick Rangers on loan during the second half of the 2011/12 season. The centre-half then spent part of last season on loan at East Fife and he believes both spells helped to educate him about the demands of playing professional football. He said: At Berwick, the main thing was about getting to grips with the physical side of game. There was also the pressure of playing rst team football in the league. Then East Fife was a higher level, but there were similar challenges. That was against better players and the football was faster and stronger. It was all part of a learning process that I hoped would lead on to playing for Hibs in the top division and thankfully that is what happened. His performances merited a chance at rst team level with Hibernian and Forster seized his opportunity; culminating in a starting spot in the 2013 Scottish Cup Final against Celtic. Forster admits the speed of his rise up Scottish footballs ladder even took him by surprise, but says he enjoyed every minute of it. He said: To go from playing games in front of a couple of hundred people at Methil to playing at a full-house at Hampden was surreal. I had always been taught to treat every game the same and I believe the grounding Id received both at Berwick and East Fife helped me to tackle the challenge of playing in front of 50,000. There were 25,000 Hibs fans there and that experience will live with me forever. Football is the best sport in the world and that day, apart from the result, was memorable. When Terry Butcher was installed as manager, Forster sought the advice of his agent, Trevor Steven Butchers former England team-mate, who told the teenager the new boss would be the perfect appointment. He said: Trevor said: This is probably the best thing that couldve happened to you he will bring you on leaps and bounds as a player. Terry and Maurice are both energetic and enthusiastic they have brought freshness to the place. Im learning off them both and that can only benet me and the team as a whole. Forster believes that todays match against St Johnstone against Easter Road could be the xture that sparks off a transformation in Hibernians home record. He said: We are approaching this game positively. We know that our record at home hasnt been great, but weve got a good mentality and spirit. We showed that against Partick Thistle that, even when things are going against us, we are prepared to work hard to earn a result. If we keep on doing that we can win at home today and then carry on winning at home.

GLORIOUS IN GREEN & WHITE:

ERIC STEVENSON
Stevenson said: Ive never been particularly ambitious, but when I was growing up the only ambition I ever had, and I dreamed about it every night, was to play for the Hibs. But Stevensons journey towards making his dream of playing for his boyhood idols a reality was almost derailed early on. Playing his juvenile football for Edina Hearts, who were a feeder team for the Tynecastle club, Stevenson, a prodigious talent, mistakenly thought he had agreed a contract with Heart of Midlothian. When it transpired that the teenage Stevenson was free to sign for another professional club, his availability attracted offers from both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United. Uniteds Jimmy Murphy, the man responsible for nurturing the likes of Bobby Charlton and George Best, even visited the Stevenson family home in Bonnyrigg to persuade young Eric to sign. But that grand gesture wouldnt sway Stevensons decision because there was only ever one team that he wanted to play for, his beloved Hibs. He said: In my opinion, Hibs were as big a club as Manchester United and I thought I was joining the best club in Britain. Imbued with an adventurous streak and verve, Stevensons early progress in the reserves, under the watchful eye of Eddie Turnbull, was eye-catching and he broke through to the fringe of the rst team in 1960/61. As a 17-year-old, Stevenson stood in for fellow youngster Davie Gibson at inside-left and made his debut alongside fellow newcomers Ronnie Simpson and Sammy Baird in a 2-0 loss at St Johnstone. Even though Stevenson was widely recognised as a comprehensively talented young forward, he struggled to dislodge all-time great Willie Ormond from the outside-left slot to begin with. Waiting in the wings for an opportunity to establish himself on Hibernians left wing, Stevenson developed his allround game thanks to the advice and guidance provided by Ormond. Only a couple of years before, Stevenson had queued up for Ormonds autograph and now he was being mentored by him. That provided Stevenson with a rstclass football education and the perfect platform on which to build a long-term Hibernian career. Absorbing the invaluable tips given by both Ormond and Turnbull, Stevenson kept on improving and scored his rst goal in a 4-0 win over Clyde in April 1961. Then the teenager with the distinctive quiff was given the ultimate stage to parade his skills the Fairs Cup seminal third game decider against AS Roma at the Stadio Flaminio. After the opening two legs, the teams were locked 5-5 on aggregate and a third match was required to determine the winner, which was staged at the end of May 1961 almost a month after the Scottish League season had ended. Hibernians preparation was further disrupted when Joe Baker handed in a transfer request at the beginning of May and Ormond refused to agree a new contract. So Stevenson was ushered into the side to replace Ormond, who later joined Falkirk in the summer, for what proved to be Roman tragedy for Hibs. In an ill-tempered match littered with controversial incidents, Stevenson was fouled by Roma defender Giacomo Losi in the box, but Bobby Kinlochs resultant penalty was saved. That moment proved to be the only glimmer of hope as Hibernian were overpowered by the Italians, who recorded a 6-0 victory.

A wily winger, who was adept at skipping past tackles and crossing accurately, Eric Stevenson was a genuine matchwinner, who thrilled the Easter Road crowd for 11 years. During the 1960s, the sight of the dark-haired number 11 weaving past a possee of bemused defenders was a regular occurrence at Easter Road and the supporters worshipped him. His fabulous skill, perfect balance and his apparently effortless ability to outwit defenders made the old East Terrace roar its approval and Stevensons mastery of the ball was only matched by his complete devotion to Hibernian. Known universally as Stevie, he had been born in Lanarkshire, but had moved to Midlothian when he was seven and he spent most of his boyhood Saturdays on the Easter Road terraces. Standing with the rest of the Bonnyrigg Hibs Branch underneath the scoreboard, Stevenson watched the heroics of the all-conquering Famous Five with wide-eyed admiration.

14 ERIC STEVENSON

The 1961/62 season saw Stevenson handed a regular run of starts, albeit in various roles in the forward-line. Ally MacLeod was signed from Blackburn Rovers as Ormonds replacement at outside-left, so Stevenson ably lled in on the right alongside his close friend and fellow youngster Jim Scott. Hugh Shaws resignation in November 1961 was followed by the appointment of Walter Galbraith into the managers ofce at Easter Road and Hibernian nished the season in mid-table. Nevertheless Stevenson had proven his value to the team scoring an impressive 13 goals, the rst of ve seasons where he reached doublegures for Hibs in the goal charts. The Easter Road crowd developed a soft spot for Stevie there was a touch of star quality about him and for a decade he entertained royally. His ashes of brilliance proved to be a rare guiding light during a difcult period in the clubs history and during the 1962/63 campaign Hibernian narrowly avoided relegation. At that stage, Hibs were a distinctly average side for which the road to resurrection looked long and hard. After Galbraith stepped down in March 1964, Jock Stein was placed in charge a month later and the quest for a winning blend was achieved. Big Jock led Hibs out of the mire and brought some glory back to Leith. Stevenson featured in Hibernians Summer Cup win over Aberdeen in September 1964 and was also in the squad that defeated Real Madrid in a prestigious friendly at Easter Road a month later. Supplying the crosses for centre-forward Neil Martin and linking beautifully with lavishly gifted inside left Willie Hamilton, Stevenson was excellent and revelled in wrong-footing opponents with a dip of his shoulder.

ERIC STEVENSON 15

ERIC STEVENSON
In November 1964, Hibernian signed left-back Joe Davis, who assumed the role of penaltytaker. Stevenson would win the spot-kicks and Davis would score them 39 in just four seasons. In February 1965, Stein, who had moved to Celtic, was replaced by Bob Shankly, who continued to utilise the elegant ball skills of Stevenson. Arguably his most memorable performance for Hibernian was against Hamilton at Easter Road on the day after Bonre Night 1965 when he produced an explosive performance. Scoring a hat-trick in an 11-1 win over Accies, Stevenson, so often the provider, turned chief goalscorer for the day and thoroughly enjoyed the moment. Selected to represent the Scottish League in September 1969, how Stevensons performances never merited a full cap with the national team remains an unsolved mystery. A born crowd-pleaser, Stevenson displayed a delightful change of pace, neat footwork and reliable crossing ability he was heaven sent. Even in the most cramped situations and against the toughest full-back, Stevenson would use his perfect balance to wrong-foot his marker and drift past his opponents with deceptive ease. He left to join Ayr United in 1971 and even went AWOL at Somerset Park in order to see his beloved Hibs lift the League Cup at Hampden in December 1972. Stevie was a Hibs supporter rst, a footballer second. Deservedly inducted into Hibernians Hall of Fame in 2012, it was apt Stevensons contribution, 79 goals in 390 appearances, was recognised. He was blessed with a left foot like a magic wand and most observers appreciated that Eric Stevenson was one of the nest wingers in Hibernians history. He loved Hibs and he was an absolute treat to watch.

UNDER-20S HIT ABERDEEN FOR SIX
Hibernian under-20s nished 2013 on a massive high by defeating Aberdeen 6-1 at Peterhead on Tuesday afternoon with Euan Smith scoring a hat-trick, writes John Stephens.
Jason Cummings also scored twice to take his overall tally for the season to the 30-goal mark while Abdellah Zoubir also found the net. The result leaves the young Hibees as the undisputed SPFL U20 League leaders heading into the winter break - after scoring an incredible 22 goals in the last four games. What makes the win even more remarkable is that at half-time the match was locked in a goalless stalemate before the avalanche of second half goals. First team squad members Alan Maybury, Tim Clancy and Zoubir all started for the under20s and Head of Academy Coaching James McDonaughs squad rose supremely to the challenge - scoring a phenomenal six at Balmoor. Hibernian under-20s: Dougie Horne, Andrew Black, Ryan Baptie, Scott Martin, Tim Clancy, Alan Maybury, Euan Smith, Jordan Sinclair (Jamie Beaton, 82), Jason Cummings, Abdellah Zoubir, Max Todd. Unused substitutes: Kleton Perntreou, Bob Wilson, Tom Gardiner, Lewis Allan, Neil Martyniuk, Jay Doyle.

POLICY ON UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT

PURPOSE This Policy has been developed in line with an agreement by clubs in the Scottish Premier League to take responsibility for the actions of their own supporters at matches, both home and away. Accordingly the SPL introduced new rules regarding Unacceptable Conduct at football matches with effect from 1st August, 2007. The SFA has also adopted these rules for Scottish Cup Matches. Where a club is in breach of, or failure to full the Rules relative to Unacceptable Conduct, the SPL may take certain action against the Club. Examples of this include nes and deduction of points. POLICY It is the policy of Hibernian Football Club (the Club) that Unacceptable Conduct will not be tolerated. Any individuals attending matches who are found to have engaged in Unacceptable Conduct may have disciplinary action taken against them. This may include removal of ticketing privileges, removal of season tickets and bans from stadia for a specied period/or other appropriate sanctions. Unacceptable Conduct may also lead to criminal charges. Reference should be made to the SPL Rules regarding Unacceptable Conduct and Powers of the Board and Commissions when dealing with this policy. IMPLEMENTATION The Home Club in any Ofcial Match must ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, i) good order and security ii) that policies and procedures have been adopted and are implemented to prevent incidents of Unacceptable Conduct iii) that any incidents of Unacceptable Conduct are effectively dealt with, at its Stadium on the occasion of an Ofcial Match. Each Club must ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that its Players, ofcials, supporters, and any person exercising a function for or connected with the Club do not engage in Unacceptable Conduct on the occasion of any Ofcial Match. Any failure by a Club to discharge a requirement to which it is subject by virtue of the above Rules shall constitute a breach of these Rules. UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT Unacceptable Conduct is conduct which is violent or disorderly. Violent conduct includes any actual, attempted, or threatened physical violence against any person, or intentional damage to property. Disorderly conduct includes; Conduct which stirs up or sustains, or is likely or is designed to stir up or sustain hatred or ill will against or towards individuals or groups of people because of: Colour, race, nationality, (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin Membership, or presumed membership, of a religious group or of a social cultural group with perceived religious afliation Sexual orientation Transgender identity Disability Using threatening, abusive or insulting words or conduct Displaying writing or any other thing which is threatening, abusive or insulting NON COMPLIANCE The Club will take all reasonably practicable steps to deter and prevent individuals from engaging in Unacceptable Conduct. Where incidents of Unacceptable Conduct are reported or detected, Stewards contracted by the Club, will in the rst instance be tasked to take all reasonably practicable steps to properly deal with the situation and bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion. There may be occasions where it is necessary to seek the assistance of Lothian and Borders Police to deal with incidents of Unacceptable Conduct within or around the Stadium. Where, for operational or other reasons determined by the Chief Steward, Event Day Safety Ofcer or Police Event Commander it is not possible or practicable to directly intervene in an incident all reasonable steps will be taken to detect individuals engaged in Unacceptable Conduct. This may include: Identication of individuals by seat row and number and if possible supported by CCTV. Written information from Stewards or Police Ofcers. Disclosure to and exchange of information with other SPL Clubs. Any information available from postmatch de-briefs. Any other source of information available. Note: For the purposes of dealing with incidents of Unacceptable Conduct, Season Ticket holders or purchasers of advanced tickets will be deemed to be responsible for their allocated seat(s). Where the incident of Unacceptable Conduct is not the subject of a Police Enquiry, the Stadium & Facilities Manager or the Club Secretary will, where required, carry out any further enquiry necessary to bring the matter to a conclusion. This may involve preparing reports and making recommendations to the Board on any disciplinary action required to be taken against individuals and/or making recommendations within the Club to reduce and eradicate Unacceptable Conduct. CONCLUSION The introduction of this policy which is in line with SPL agreements places additional responsibility on the Club to ensure individuals do not engage in Unacceptable Conduct within Easter Road Stadium and whilst visiting other SPL Clubs. The subject of Unacceptable Conduct is already under close scrutiny and the Club seeks the co-operation and support of all supporters in its efforts to reduce and eradicate such behaviour.
