You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information, group 500, General Safety Practices, Brakes and Air Systems before performing this procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it.

1. Brake pedal free play 2. Brake valve push rod to brake pedal 3. Static position 4. Free position

Note: Air must be supplied to the brake valve in order to adjust pedal. 1 Adjust the upper screw so that the free position (4) of the brake pedal has 8 4 mm (0.32 0.16 in) of play. This is measured while lifting the pedal from the static position (push rod contacts the plunger) (3). After adjusting, secure the lock nut and re-check play (See page 4 ). Note: When adjusting the free position of the brake pedal on a workbench, air must be supplied to the brake valve supply ports marked sup-1 and sup-2. 8 4 mm (0.31 0.16 in)

Brake Micro Switch, Adjustment

Fig. 2 Brake Micro Switch Adjustment 1 Brake micro switch 2 Brake micro switch, bracket 3 Brake micro switch bracket, adjustment set screw 1 Loosen the brake micro switch adjustment screw (3). 2 Install the brake micro switch adjustment tool (88800461) into the lower hole group on the switch bracket.

3 With pedal in static position, rotate the micro switch bracket (2) assembly up/down until the tool touches brake pedal arm. Note: To adjust the micro switch, the upper adjusting screw adjustment must be complete. For more information refer to, Brake Pedal Adjustment in function group 5. Note: Air must be supplied to the brake valve in order to adjust the micro switch. 4 Tighten brake micro switch adjustment screw to 10 1.5 Nm (88.5 13 in lb.)

5 Install under dash panels and secure. 6 Install all the previously removed cables to the negative (ground) battery terminals.
