Lesson Plan

OVERVIEW
We live in an ever-changing planet where pollution represents one of the most important issues. Studying about pollution is a great opportunity for children to find out the negative consequences of this phenomenon. Students will become aware of the fact that pollution is a disruptive process that can be avoid by the unity of people against it. In this way students will be able to propose and adopt solution in order to prevent the destruction of the environment. This lesson is not only a theoretical one, but it has the function of helping children in creating a clear opinion about this process.

Teacher: Bnic Ana-Maria Level of students: Intermediate, 7 graders Date: 24. 04. 2012 Main Aims: -to become familiar with terms that belong to the field of pollution and environment - to be able to express his own position towards this process -to give solution to save the planet by using 2nd conditional form

Subsidiary Aims To practice speaking, listening for finding out different ideas Presentation of language

Assumptions: Students are familiar with natural problems Materials: videos, worksheets , other materials brought for the presentation The Enviropals- Stop Pollution song video

Teaching techniques: - pair-work -group-work -brainstorming

Stages of lesson Lead-in

Activities-students and teacher: Interaction patterns The teacher will have a discussion with the students about their holiday spring and he tries to find out if students are keen on nature. Furthermore the teacher tries to find out children opinion about the negative consequences and natural disasters which are produced by mans actions.

STAGE TWO- listening for discovering the massage and After listening the song Stop the title of the lesson Pollution, students will find out the message of the song and also the title of the topic that will be discussed in that day. For revising their comprehension of the song the teacher uses four images and ask the children to identify the type of pollution which are presented on these pictures, that also were named in the song. STAGE THREE- Reinforcement The students should become more familiar with the topic of pollution. In this way the teacher will bring them worksheets that have the function to improve their

vocabulary on the field of pollution and environment. The exercises follow a logical way because they start from a general point of view, where are given definition which are in correlation with nature, and the last part of exercises illustrates solution, causes that determine pollution. STAGE FOUR- writing and production

After becoming familiar with the topic the students should also be able to propose solutions for saving the planet. For accomplishing the task the teacher will divide the students on 6 groups and each group should create sentences in which they have the duty to present eventual solution for saving nature. The group who is going to write more sentences is going to win the competition and all the members of the group will get a ten. For helping the children in writing easier their solution the teacher will put down on blackboard an example using 2nd conditional. Having the structure it will be easier for students to create the sentences.

Thanks to mans actions our planet can become a better place for all of us. The man should understand that his physical and mental health is in a great correlation with Mother Nature. There are lots of things that can be done by humanity in order to improve this situation.
