Martin Luther King, Jr. was a civil rights activist in the 1960s. His iconic I Had A Dream speech is still quoted in countless generic convocation speeches today.

Production for the studentrun on-campus newspaper the UCSD Guardian will be delayed one day from Sunday, Jan. 19 to Monday, Jan. 20 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, according to a post by Guardian Deputy Managing Editor Allie Kiekhofer released via Facebook. Were moving it forward one day because that way, we get to have a two-day weekend, Kiekhofer said. Staff should arrange their schedules accordingly. You cant quote yourself in your own article, Managing Editor Zev Hurwitz said of Kiekhofers decision to use herself as an interview subject. The publication, which typically holds production every Wednesday and Sunday, sometimes alters the production schedule in order to accommodate school holidays, such as Februarys Presidents Day and Memorial Day in May, according to a Publication Schedule released by Business Manager Emily Ku. I share a name with [King], Editor in Chief Laira Martin said, referring to the first name of the civil rights activist, who led civil disobedience movements against racial discrimination throughout the 1960s. U2 wrote a song about Martin Luther King, Jr., Hurwitz said. Its called Pride. [Kiekhofer] asked me what was my favorite thing about Martin Luther King, Associate News Editor Gabriella Fleischman said. But I thought she meant Martin Luther King Day, so I said threeday weekend. At press time, Kiekhofer was making a fake news page in InDesign when she could save hours by notifying Guardian staff in a normal post.
