The Launching Ceremony of the LACIP at Serena Hotel, Islamabad


PPAF held a successful launching ceremony for the KfW funded Livelihood Support & Promotion of Small Community Infrastructure Project (LACIP) on 14th of September, 2012 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Masood Kausar was invited as the Chief Guest, while the list of distinguished guests included KfW Country Director Dr. Anna Christine Janke, Social Welfare Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ms. Sitara Ayaz and C.E.O PPAF Mr. Qazi Azmat Isa. Dr. Anna Christine Janke said that it was a laudable initiative taken by PPAF which would result in the benefit of over 600,000 people in the target districts. She also went on to say that the German Government has once again reposed confidence in PPAF for the service of the poor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sitara Ayaz said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would provide full support to PPAF in the execution of the Project in order to make it successful. Barrister Masood Kausar stated that it was indeed a moment to recognize the commitment of PPAF to eradicate poverty and that this Project would open up new vistas of opportunities for the poor in Khyber Pakhthunkhwa and Fata.

LACIP reveals Official Webpage


One of the highlights of the ceremony was the official launch of the LACIP Webpage. Zaffar Pervez Sabri conducted the presentation, in which he introduced the state of the art GIS mapping database that will be used for online monitoring of the Project. Zaffar Pervez Sabri explained that the webpage would act as a digital walk-through for the LACIP, displaying activities, information and updates regarding the Project. Dr. Anna Christine Janke expressed her delight at the webpage launch and supported this initiative. The inauguration of the LACIP webpage was done by Barrister Masood Kausar.

The LACIP PMU carried out 4 field visits and visited 17 community organizations during the month of September. Taimur Jehangir and Zeeshan Azam visited 3 Community Organizations (COs) of SDF, filled out check lists and carried out surveys in the field. Mr. Fahd Usman of the LACIP PMU and Mr. Hayatullah Khan of HELVETAS carried out a joint monitoring field visit to SERVE in D.I. Khan. The team evaluated the POs implementation process regarding CPI schemes in compliance to PPAF values and standards and discussed MSPs. Taimur Jehangir, Muhammad Ayyaz, Zeeshan Azam and Sana Zeeshan Shirazi conducted a field visit to NRSP and SWWS in District Swabi on 27/09/2012. The team visited 10 COs and conducted a detailed review of the CPI projects, LIPs and the COs documentation. In their review, Sana Zeeshan stressed on the element of transparency of work and the completion of the necessary documentation at the CO and office level. The formats of the SMR and QPR were clarified to the POs and the status of SOEs was also discussed in detail.
