AWE32.DK Help File Loading in the file AWE32.

DK will setup Bandin-a-Box for the SoundBlaster AWE32GS mode multi-timbral synthesizer module. It will setup: 1. Drum #'s for the General Midi Standard(Standard Roland Drum Note Numbers). 2. General Midi (GS) Patch Map 3. Startup Patches and Channels in the Midi Settings Window. *************** If using the AWE32 card, if you want to use the internal AWE32 synth, use the "SB AWE32 MIDI Synth" driver for output. If you have a daughterboard or a MIDI module attached to your AWE32 card, then use the SB 16 MIDI Out instead (in this case you should use a .DK file appropriate to the daughterboard ). The SoundBlaster AWE32 is the first SoundBlaster with wave-sampled sounds instead of simple FMsynthesis. It also incorporates the General Midi Standard (GM), and on some models, the Roland GS mode. If your version of the AWE32 incorperates the GS-mode, you will have the option to set your sound card to GS-mode (reccommended) in the AWE32 Control Panel program (usually c:\SB16\WINAPPL\AWECP.EXE) located in your soundblaster utilities/programs group in Windows.) This option will allow you extra drums sounds (ie brushes) and other sounds/parameters in addition to the regular GM sounds. Band-in-a-Box has several styles that use Brushes (indicated by a ~ character in the style name like J~.SONICE.STY . Regardless of whether you use GM or GS mode, you can be sure that this unit conforms to standardized Patch numbers that ensures that the proper instruments are chosen as originally intended by a given MIDI song. (note: You'd need to select the GS bank each time that you run Windows, BB doesn't load the AWE32 GS bank automatically ) Band-in-a-Box offers easy access to all the sounds and parameters(such as effects, panning and volume) via the General Midi Patch Map and real-time editing features for the aforementioned parameters. No additional setup for Band-in-a-Box is required once the file AWE32.DK has been loaded via "Load Alternate Drum/Midi Set" under the Midi pulldown menu (or automatically with the Driver selection dialog.) We have made alternate Patch Maps to incorporate various older synth/ modules such as the Korg M1 and the Emu Proteus 1. If you have one of these older units attached to the external MIDI port of your Soundblaster, for example, you can make your own map. If you have a synth we haven't included, simply type the patch numbers of your synth beside the corresponding General Midi Instruments and then save them as a MYSETUP.DK file. Have Fun!
