2014 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)

Dear School Principal/ Parents: The University of New South Wales is offering your students an opportunity to participate in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) for Science, English and Math. ICAS has taken place annually in schools for over thirty years and is now in more than 20 countries. ICAS: is university backed and internationally recognised assessments. is skills based assessments for students in Years 3-10. assessments are written by subject specialists and are available in the key learning areas of English, Mathematics and Science. reports the performance of your student through a 25-60 minute supervised in-school test. The length of each test depends on the subject and year level being tested. More information about each subject can be found at http://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/subjects provides a continuous, independent and comprehensive record of your students academic strengths and weaknesses and tracks their progress by subject from year 3 to year 10. uses other participating students results as a reference point for comparing your childs performance. provides excellent preparation for in-school and national tests. contains questions designed specifically to explore the abilities of children at all levels. results are available to parents in a hard copy report and online. reports indicate which questions were answered correctly and are highly suitable for inclusion in an academic portfolio for future tertiary entrance or when applying for a job. rewards the top student in each subject in each year level with a UNSW gold medal. recognises all students with certificates of High Distinction, Distinction, Credit and Participation. For more information about awards and recognition go to www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/awards In 2014, the Philippine Board of Studies Foundation (PBOS), Inc implements the ONLINE REGISTRATION for these ICAS subject areas: English, Mathematics and Science. Registration starts on 6 January 2014 and ends on 30 April 2014. Online registration will be closed on the said deadline and the computer generated online registration will not be accessible anymore after the closing date. Registration Procedures: On-line registration for the 2014 ICAS is individual and it can be downloaded at www.philboardstudies.com Anyway, to enrol your students in ICAS, please follow these steps: a. Deposit the Registration fee of Php700.00 at any BPI branches. Account Name: Philippine Board of Studies Foundation, Inc. BPI Peso account: 2114 0217 27 b. Scan the deposit slip and visit the website www.philboardstudies.com for other procedures. c. Create a new account if you do not have previous on-line account with philboardstudies.com d. Upload the scanned deposit slip and you will receive an automatic reply. e. Wait for the approval of your registration. This will take time for us to process and evaluate your entries. f. Once approved you will get a students code which will be used as official entry to the contest. Note: 1. Be sure to bring the original and duplicate deposit slips on the contest date for validation of registration. 2. Deposit slips sent through FAX or sent through any email addresses will not be honored. 3. Please do not assume that once payment has been made, an entry will be automatically registered in our database. We will only process and include students name as an official participant in the 2014 ICAS only when registration is made ONLINE. 4. No walk-in participants are allowed to take the 2014 ICAS. No refund of the Entry Fee is possible. 1.
