Informal Assessment Tools or Methods Math Computation is a recently revised collection of math computation probes that is consistent with the aimsweb M-CAP assessment (Math Concepts and Applications) in terms of format, number of benchmark and progress monitoring probes per grade, scoring rules, reporting. DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) is a standardized, individually administered test of accuracy and fluency with connected text. The DORF passages and procedures are based on the program of research and development of Curriculum-Based Measurement of Reading. Present Levels Isabelle just completed the DIBELS in oral reading fluency. She is good at decoding and reading at a steady rate. Isabelle needs to work on contractions, so that when she is reading she knows how to break the word down. She will also work on breaking down the words by their syllables. This will help her with reading the passages with greater oral fluency. Isabelle will also need to work on one step addition and subtraction word problems. This will strengthen her math skills. Educational Goals Oral Reading Fluency Goal one for oral reading fluency, Isabelle's area of need in working on contractions when reading an oral reading fluency passage. Measurable goals: Isabelle will read a passage with contractions with no help from the teacher, 10 out of 10 for 1 time a day for three weeks. This will be measured by a teacher made observation check list. The baseline for Isabelle is she cannot say the contraction correct. The evaluation method will be monitor and chart progress, and progress reports will be every three weeks to her parents. Goal two for oral reading fluency, Isabella's area of need is working on syllables when reading a passage. Measurable goals: Isabelle will read a passage with words that she has trouble pronouncing with little to no help from her teacher, 8 out of 8 for 1 time a day for two weeks. This will be measured by a teacher made observation check list. The baseline for Isabelle is she cannot say the word without having help breaking down the words correctly. This will be measured by a teacher

Progress report to be given once a month to parents. Instructional Recommendations The instructional recommendations for oral reading fluency are work on the contractions. You could make flash cards with the word that has the contraction, and what two words can make up a contraction. Next you could write sentences that have the word in a contraction and non contraction. You can have worksheets that help the student learn and work on contractions. Work on other words that mean the same but have different spelling (mom, mama, and mother). Work on reading a passage without a cold read, so she can read the passage with you and hear how to say the words right. The instructional recommendations for math could be timed Mad Minutes with the student. Work on problems that switch back and forth for addition and subtraction. Make one step flash cards and work on drills with the student. Have a board game that deals with adding and subtracting. Show the students how to use manipulates to figure out the problem. Work on simple story problems that ask about addition and subtraction.
